Cool outfits are like crack for gamers. Offer us a shiny new hat and a cool set of armor and we'll gather any number of absurd collectibles to get it. But what about the alternate outfits that are maybe just a bit too silly for even the most devoted and clothes-crazy gamer?

The Silliest Alternate Outfits In Video Games

Here's our pick for the weirdest, most wonderful alternate outfits in . The costumes that are so silly, you might just win by distracting your opponent with fits of laughter.

1. Zak Becomes A Teletubby - 'Dead Or Alive 5'

The Dead Or Alive series is no stranger to bizarre costumes, but usually the weirdness comes from them being way too horny. Zak's alien costume is weirdness of a different stripe (at least I hope no one's turned on by it). The goofy fighter replaces his normal flamboyant get-ups for a full body silver suit that looks like the cousin that the Teletubbies never invite to family events.

2. Helloooo Nurse! - 'Resident Evil Zero'

What's a practical outfit when you're traipsing around the woods investigating the mutant undead? Why, a lily-white sexy nurses outfit of course! I guess we know she's very devoted to her bedside manner.

Second place goes to her skimpy sports outfit from the same game, which isn't quite as impractical, but is a reference to one of the oddest easter eggs in the Resident Evil series.

3. Holy Retro, Batman! - 'Batman: Arkham Knight'

You can enjoy your gritty Dark Knight and animated series batmen all you want, but for me, there's only one supreme version of the caped crusader. I grew up on afternoon episodes of the Adam West batman TV series, basking in the campy, hilarious self-aware action that made it such an amazing show. Plus, '60s Batman is just so nice, which makes it hilarious when you're dressed up as him in Arkham Knight while you break arms and intimidate meaty thugs with obscene violence.

4. The Socialist Machine - 'Street Fighter IV'

Fighting games seem to be one of the richest sources of absolutely WTF alternate costumes, especially since some genius came up with the idea of DLC costume packs.

Among all the alternate costumes, Zangief's is by far my favorite. This robot makeover turns him from beefy bear into cold, steel colossus, and it's totally awesome. If the USSR had a fighting machine like robot Zangief, we'd probably all be speaking Russian today.

5. Rudolf The Red-Bellied Reindeer - 'Overwatch'

Aside from occasionally breaking character's butts, the seasonal skins are usually pretty amazing. Roadhog's Rudolf get-up though is more disturbing than anything. I'm not sure Santa would want this reindeer pulling his sleigh; for a start, he'd probably drag it down, or steal it.

Honorable mention also goes to the recent hot Zenyatta skin released as part of the Chinese New Year event though, mostly for inspiring a new and bizarre wave of randy robot based slash fiction.

6. Heather The Magical Girl - 'Silent Hill 3'

The series made its name as the grim, cryptic psychological horror alternative to the Resident Evil Series, which makes it even more odd when you run into things like an ending where a dog is controlling everything.

Things got even sillier in Silent Hill 3, when Konami put in a secret item that let you change into a sailor moon style magical girl. Not only did the bizarre get-up give you a full transformation sequence, complete with poses, but it let you shoot magical energy at monsters!

7. God Of Lactose - 'God Of War'

While Kratos from God of War has become a serious sad dad with responsibilities, there was a time when the developers took their protagonist a bit less seriously. Beating the challenge of the gods mode in the original God Of War unlocked a secret costume with serious calcium. I don't know about you guys, but if the 'Got Milk?' ads had featured Kratos, I might have been terrified enough to overcome my lactose intolerance.

8. Everyone Get... Naked? - 'Resonance Of Fate'

A lot of games reward the player with sexy swimsuit costumes for completing challenges or spending money. Some video games even seem to base half their income flow on it.

Resonance of Fate, a JRPG for the PlayStation 3, takes a slightly unusual approach to the unlockable swimsuit. Instead of actually stripping their characters off to the skivvies, they just sort of... painted over their normal clothes. It's a pretty awesome subversion of the sexy alternate outfit.

9. Married To The Sea - 'Resident Evil: Revelations'

Speaking of sexy outfits, Resident Evil: Revelations features Chris Redfield in his nautical best as he battles the mutant undead. The macho hero brings out the big guns with his little sailor suit and pipe that look straight out of Popeye. If only the costume changed all the green herbs to spinach.

I bet Resident Evil: Vendetta would be even better if you got to watch the entire thing with ridiculous alternate costumes.
