And no, when I say it takes you through Hell, I don't mean it just gives you a simulation of a busy Monday at work — though that would certainly be a terrifying experience!
From the brilliant imaginations of the team at Madmind Studio, whose developers have worked on huge titles such as #TheDivision and #Witcher3, #Agony seeks to test the bravery, and the stomach, of players who dare to take the trip down the highway to Hell.
I recently got the chance to try out a demo for the alpha-build of Agony, and from the very beginning it was overflowing with terror and gore — not surprising really, for a game literally set in Hell.
So without further ado, here are five GIFs from the Agony demo which had me shouting "Bloody Hell!"
Another brick in the wall
Straight away, Agony proves it's possibly the goriest survival horror game to come out in years by letting the player see a man building a wall — but this isn't just any wall, this one's made out of dead babies. Yep, you heard me right, dead babies. Thanks Agony, it's not like I wanted to sleep anyway.
Face your demons
You probably want to avoid demons in Agony, as the guy getting thrown about in the GIF above learned the hard way. Maybe save facing your demons for the therapy sessions you'll need after playing through the game.
You'll undoubtedly be widening your eyes in shock at the gore and chaos you'll witness in Agony. Just don't open them too wide, or you'll end up like this guy. Damn, he really should have worn a helmet.
Just don't look up
Agony certainly isn't a game that wants you to feel comfortable, and this is backed up by the disturbing 'decorations' scattered around each terrifying part of Hell. So whatever you do, don't look up... or down, or anywhere really. To be honest, you're better off just closing your eyes.
Rise and shine
Man, talk about a rough wake up call. Clearly in Agony, no soul is going to get the chance to rest in peace, especially with all those demons prowling around. Seriously, let the old guy sleep!
Highway to Hell
As you can see from the small selection of gory gifs, assuming you haven't closed your eyes in terror of course, Agony is going to take players on a particularly disturbing journey through Hell! With its immersive gameplay, horrifying demons, and blood-soaked environments, this one's certainly going to be giving you nightmares for a while.
Well, at least the weather's warm in Hell, right?
