With over 20 years in pop culture, the original 151 Pokémon have been the subjects of an absolutely insane number of fan art reimaginings. We've seen everything from Pokémon turned into humans to type-swapped starter Pokémon (because, yes, I did want to see a Fire-type Blastoise, thank-you-very-much).

Now, Seattle artist Aaron Bowersock has combined the Japanese Pokémon with the style of traditional Latino festival Dios de los Muertos, aka Day of the Dead, which takes place on October 31st. In his final update, Bowersock remarked, "It only took me three freaking years!" to finish this project. In this post you can see some of our favorites from Bowersock's @Popmuertos Instagram account.
