As part of its 30th anniversary, Ubisoft has just announced that Assassin's Creed 3 will be free to download on PC for anyone interested. All you have to do is head on over to Ubisoft's website and download the game using an Ubisoft account. Don't worry, even if signing up for an account and using Uplay to launch the game is a bit cumbersome, it's all still totally free.

And while reception to the third numerical installment seems to be mixed, it's still a solid AAA game that's been met with solid critical reception. Moreover, if you've never played an Assassin's Creed game and want to get yourself somewhat familiar with the series before the movie releases later this month, this is an easy way to do so.

If you are familiar with the series — or any of Ubisoft's products, like — then there's even more good news!

Ubisoft Is In The Middle Of A 30 Days Of Giveaways Event

Yes, that's right, Ubisoft is in the giving mood and they're kindly giving away free stuff each day until December 23rd (since the event started back in November). So far, none of the goodies are on quite the same scale as a free game, but hey, free stuff is free stuff.

Most of the goodies can be redeemed after the "unwrap" date, but some are one-day-only exclusives, so be sure to check every day if you're interested. (Or just wait around for the final few days, since we all know that's where the good stuff will probably be.)

Will you be claiming a free copy of Assassin's Creed 3? How about seeing the movie when it comes out?
