Are bugs, glitches and crashes preventing you from being all that you could be? Is Batman: The Telltale Series attempting to stop you from gallivanting across rooftops adorned in black and plunging into your bat cave?! How dare it! It's time to put a stop to this game's petty crimes with some bat justice (and quick fixes to common problems).
All the Quick Fixes You Need To Combat Common Crashes & Bugs In Batman: The Telltale Series
With over 400 negative reviews on its Steam page, most of which focus on the game's reluctance to properly work, there are plenty of grievances players have with the world's latest Batman game. Let's hope that these fixes lend a hand.
1. Make sure your PC can actually run the game
It sounds condescending, but be sure that you actually have a PC that can run Batman: A Telltale Series.
Minimum System Requirements:
- OS: Windows 7 64Bit Service Pack 1
- Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz
- Memory: 3 GB RAM
- Graphics: Nvidia GTS 450+ with 1024MB+ VRAM (excluding GT) – LATEST DRIVERS REQUIRED
- DirectX: Version 11
- Additional Notes: Not Recommended for Intel integrated graphics
If everything here checks out, let's move on!
2. Update or install your graphics card drivers
Out of date graphics cards are never helpful when trying to run a brand new game. They often lead to crashes, so make sure you download the latest versions for your specific cards from one of the following websites:
- Install latest Nvidia drivers from the official Nvidia support site
- Install latest AMD drivers from the official AMD support site
3. Verify the game's cache
Another thing you'll want to do is verify the game's cache on Steam. Follow these steps in order to do so:
- Right-click on Batman: The Telltale Series and select "Properties" from the menu
- Select the "Local Files" tab
- Click the "Verify integrity of game cache" button
After you hit the button, Steam will verify the game's files over the course of a few minutes. This often fixes a lot of crashes and bugs.
4. How to fix crash on startup
Many people have reported the game crashing to the desktop simply by attempting to play it. If you're hitting the play button in the Steam client and experiencing a crash, or seeing a white screen very early in the game, try this temporary solution:
- Turn off Steam Overlay - To do that, click on Steam > Settings > In-Game Settings tab. After that uncheck the box next to “Enable Steam Community In-Game” and click ok.
Additionally, it's been noted that the game uses Integrated Graphics by default, so make sure you let it know to use your Nvidia or AMD cards instead. Just find the control panel for your card and change the onboard graphics setting to those of your graphics card. Hopefully this will solve your white screen problem.
5. Resolution solutions
If you're having a problem with the game when setting its resolution higher than 720p — perhaps your mouse is being held ransom in a little box in the top left corner — there are two little fixes you can try.
The first is to ensure the game is set to fullscreen, then changing your preferred resolution. After that's done, exit to the very first screen in the game and it will ask you whether you'd like to keep these settings. Say yes. Simple.
Another solution involves you heading over to the Control Panel for your graphics card. Once inside, go to manage 3D settings, choose Program Settings, and click "add." In this menu simply find the Batman: The Telltale Series exe file. Following this step, choose your preferred graphics processor (like High performance Nvidia processor) which will hopefully fix things for you. It seems the game's default graphics settings are messing with its functionality.
6. DirectX: Parameter is incorrect error fix
This has been a pretty common problem for gamers. If you encounter this error while opening your game, make sure that you’ve got DirectX 11 on your system at least. You can download it easily online. Additionally, be sure there are no updates for Windows that you're missing either. To install the Windows 7 Service Pack 1 go to this link and pick up some updates for SP1 here.
7. Low FPS fix
There's nothing worse than a low, stuttering framerate on your lovely PC. And Telltale have avoided the issue until now. Players are reporting frame drops to as low as 10 or 11 while playing. This problem is also graphics card related, so make sure you remove the default settings. To solve this problem, you will manually need to change it by going into the Control Panel of your GPU and then adding the game’s exe file and forcing it to use your graphics card instead.
8. Controller fix
Other gamers are saying that Batman: The Telltale Series refuses to recognize their Xbox One controllers. One way to fix this issue is to download the Xbox Accessories app from the Windows 10 Store and updating the firmware. Then you'll just have to start up the game and all should be right with the world.
