We heard back in June that Crash Bandicoot would be remastered for PlayStation 4 as part of its 20 year anniversary, and now the box art and release date have possibly been leaked. Both and Zilliongames, Finnish and Brazilian retailers respectively, put up listings for Crash Bandicoot with a release date of February 28, 2017, and a cover with the title and art.

This could merely be a placeholder date or it could be the legit one, but it at least gives us an idea of when the game should be expected rather than just the generic "2017" that was given when the remasters were announced at E3.

All three original Crash Bandicoot games were announced as part of the remaster collection: Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, and Crash Bandicoot: Warped. We don't yet know if the collection will be released as a single entity or spread out as three separate remastered releases.

Crash Bandicoot also made an appearance in Skylanders Imaginators as a guest star, fitting since the makers of Skylanders are also in charge of the remasters of the Crash Bandicoot games.

Fans have been clamoring for years for updated Crash Bandicoot games. These remasters could be gauging public interest in the series as a whole and, if they do well, possibly pave the way for new Crash Bandicoot titles in the future.

Will you be playing the remastered Crash Bandicoot collection?
