It's finally happening! Ok guys, just breathe, stay calm.

Actually, screw it, just go crazy. Because that's exactly what the rest of the internet is doing right now.

They called me crazy when I reserved this piece months ago. "He'll never be announced" they said, "Doomfist will just be a PvE event." "The Doomfist gauntlet is just in the payload to tease fans, they'll never actually release Doomfist as a playable character."

Well, who's crazy now?

To be honest, me, because I've waited months for this announcement. Following every teaser, every clue, and now it's finally happening. It's slightly difficult to remain calm and write about this in an ordered, casual sort of way, seeing as the rest of the gaming internet is exploding with hype about the long-awaited right now.

I'll do my best to keep the exclamation points to a minimum (no promises).

Doomfist Packs A Punch In This Stunning New Animation

If the simple news about Doomfist's announcement hasn't already blown your mind, then get ready to buy a ticket for the hype train: Blizzard also released a new, badass, action-packed animation, which involves Doomfist single-handedly knocking out a bunch of your favorite Overwatch heroes.

The animation shows Doomfist easily defeating Tracer, Genji, and Winston, and even punching his way out of a maximum security prison bare-fisted. Shawshank Redemption, eat your heart out.

The animation also confirmed some major things about Doomfist's character. Firstly, he believes that conflict and war are essential to human evolution, and that "every battle makes us stronger." This already paints him as an aggressive, merciless character, who may just give the heroes of Overwatch a tougher fight than they anticipated.

Also, he's not actually voiced by Terry Crews, even though his involvement with the character had been speculated for months. However, this isn't a bad thing necessarily, as the voice actor Blizzard have chosen does an incredible job of capturing a voice that is more befitting of Doomfist's African homeland of the fictional Numbani.

Choo Choo! All Aboard The Hype Train!

Understandably, the internet has been going pretty wild after this incredible surprise announcement.

Clearly, fans of the game are hyped. And not only for Doomfist himself, but also for the beautiful animation that Blizzard created. Many are now calling for Blizzard to make a full-blown Overwatch animated series, and that's certainly something that we could all get behind!

For now though, just enjoy the moment, because Doomfist is here to kick ass and punch prison walls...

...and he's all out of prison walls.
