Injustice 2 recently released their first big story trailer after a long drought of information. With the new trailer comes new characters and a glimpse at the dark plot of the sequel to NetherRealm's DC fighting game, .

Confirmed Characters In Injustice 2

We've now got a pretty good look at a sizable chunk of the roster in the new game. So without further ado, here are the list of characters currently confirmed for .

1. Deadshot

Made famous to the general public by 2016's , Deadshot is the world's greatest marksman. He fights almost exclusively using firearms and will probably be taking Deathstroke's place in the roster. Though Deathstroke may be an alternate skin.

2. Harley Quinn

An obvious include, Harley Quinn actually had one of the most interesting storylines in the Injustice comic and game, so she's a welcome returning face. She'll be back this time with a pair of glammed up hyenas in tow and a Suicide Squad-inspired costume.

3. Wonder Woman

was one of the first characters revealed for Injustice 2. The superhuman amazon will be fighting with her trademark lasso, as well as a short sword and shield.

4. Super Girl/Power Girl

Supergirl was another early reveal to the roster of Injustice 2. She looks to be a fast, agile character with zoning potential when she activates her special ability. A Power Girl skin will also be available, which will change both her appearance and presumably voice actor.

5. Atrocitus

Atrocitus is a member of the Red Lantern Corps. A group of rivals to the Green Lanterns who are mostly defined by being very, very angry people, with Atrocitus as the angriest one of all. Atrocitus will sometimes be joined by Dex-Starr, who is a very angry floating cat with superpowers that mostly involve throwing up blood. Comics!

6. Gorilla Grodd

Gorilla Grodd is a super-intelligent psychic gorilla who regularly battles The Flash. I already did the "Comics!" joke so I can't do it again here. He looks to be a grappler style character, with a number of command grabs at his disposal.

7. Darkseid

Darkseid is one of the big bads of the DC universe and a character that dwarfs even Superman in terms of strength. At the moment, he'll be available only as a pre-order exclusive, but will probably be released as DLC at some point.

8. Blue Beetle

Blue Beetle is a newcomer to the Injustice universe, and one of the younger heroes in DC. His powers come from his alien suit, which can change and adapt depending on his needs.

9. Superman

Superman is another returning favorite from the original. Judging by the intro dialog, the Superman we play as in the game will most probably be the tyrannical Superman of the alternate Earth, though he seems to have chilled out a little bit in the meantime.

10. Batman

Batman has once again made time in his busy schedule of being in literally everything DC releases to also appear in this game.

11. Aquaman

Another cast member from the first game, Aquaman will be making his return. Unfortunately, there's been no word yet as to whether we'll see a shirtless Jason Momoa skin.

12. The Flash/Reverse Flash/Jay Garrick

The Flash will also be returning to Injustice 2, along with an alternate skin that will turn him into his archnemesis Reverse Flash, complete with a different voice actor and new lines. Recent leaks have also revealed another premium skin for The Flash, which lets you play as Jay Garrick, the original golden age Flash (aka the one with the silly helmet).

13. Green Lantern Hal Jordan/Jon Stewart

Hal Jordan returns to Injustice 2, with a restored green ring and seemingly the same move set as before. There will also be an alternate Jon Stewart premium skin featuring an alternate voice actor and lines.

14. Brainiac

Brainiac was confirmed by the newest trailer as the game's main antagonist and a playable character. Little yet is known how the extraterrestrial Android will play or what exactly he's up to though.

15. Bane

The latest trailers have confirmed everyone's favorite psychotic luchador Bane, though he appears to have traded up for a more modern looking costume. Personally, I'm a fan of the classic style.

16. Poison Ivy

Fan favorite villain Poison Ivy was another character confirmed in the latest trailer to Injustice 2. The sometimes partner to Harley Quinn looks like a zoner with a lot of movement control powers, a favorite of Netherrealm.

17. Robin

Robin was the third character revealed by the Injustice 2 story trailer. NetherRealms hasn't confirmed which Robin it is, but judging by the decidedly lethal sword he's using, I'm guessing Damian Wayne.

18. Doctor Fate

The mystic lord of magic Dr. Fate is confirmed to be joining the cast, and looks like an excellent zoning character.

19. Black Canary

Black Canary is an agile street level hero with a fearsome supersonic cry that can stun and disorient her enemies. Previously killed by Superman prior to the Injustice video game, she was spirited away to another dimension by Dr. Fate, along with her child. Now she's back to reclaim her life and fight for the side of good. She looks to be a speedy, grappler/brawler hybrid who uses her scream to knock enemies off balance.

20. Swamp Thing

The gooey, green and grumpy spirit of nature made famous by Alan Moore is a surprise entry into the Injustice 2 roster. He's a grappler style character with a lot of range, but not much speed.

21. Cyborg

This teen tech hero has been thrust into the DC spotlight recently as a founding member of the Justice League in their film universe. We know little about how he plays so far, but good money's on him being a zoner character with a lot of movement control.

22. Cheetah/ Vixen

Wonder Woman villain Cheetah is in as an agile, speedy character with a lot of movement options (and very few clothing options). As an added bonus, players will be able to get a premium skin that turns Cheetah into Vixen, the animal spirit totem powered superhero and recurring character in Legends of Tomorrow.

23. Catwoman

Fan favorite Batman villain (and sometimes ally) Catwoman has joined the cast. Like cheetah, she's another agile, quick brawler, but also uses her whip to give her some ranged options.

24. Firestorm

The atom-bending star of Legends of Tomorrow was announced on the 13th of March as another addition to Injustice 2. He looks to be a zoner with different levels of nuclear power as a unique ability.

25. Green Arrow

Green Arrow has been revealed in story trailers as a character, though they haven't shown his gameplay yet. Good odds on him remaining largely unchanged from the first game though.

26. Captain Cold

The famous Flash villain and beloved former star of Legends of Tomorrow has been confirmed as a playable character. His fighting style employs a ton of Sub-Zero inspired freeze moves and zoning options, which seems to be a favorite among NetherRealm's design team. Recent leaks have confirmed a Mr. Freeze premium skin for Captain Cold, which transforms the characters look, voice actor and intro dialog.

27. Black Adam

Black Adam looks to be making a return to the Injustice roster, probably using a similar play-style and mechanics to the first game, where he was also a playable character.

28. Scarecrow

Scarecrow was revealed in a spotlight video focusing on the villains of Injustice 2. He sports a whole new appearance and seems to fight with a hook on a chain, giving him a lot of options for out-ranging his opponents and setting up command grabs.

29. The Joker

The Joker has been revealed in a gameplay trailer. He's looking pretty similar to how he played in Injustice, although he does sport a snazzy new outfit, complete with some unusual wounds on his torso and a crowbar-based super move.

DLC Characters

NetherRealm plan to release at least 3 packs of DLC characters for Injustice 2. So far, only the first three have been announced.

Sub-Zero

The icy ninja from NetherRealm's other popular fighting game series Mortal Kombat will be making a guest appearance in Injustice 2. He'll probably play similarly to his Mortal Kombat X version, though without the different choices of fighting style offered in that game.

Red Hood

Jason Todd will appear as The Red Hood, formerly Batman's protege Robin. After being beaten seemingly to death by the Joker, Jason Todd disappeared for years before resurfacing as the murderous vigilante Red Hood. Unlike Batman, The Red Hood fights with lethal weaponry, including guns.

Starfire

An alien to our world, Starfire is an exiled princess of the planet Tamaran. She's best known for her appearances in the popular Teen Titans cartoon. Starfire possesses great strength and durability, as well as being able to fly and shoot bolts of psionic energy.
