#FinalFantasy fans might be losing their bank balance, sleep and remaining work vacation days for the launch of #FinalFantasyXV this week. Though, while we've only made the sacrifice once, there's a group of Final Fantasy fans regularly sacrificing these delights: Cosplayers.
We've got the utmost respect for fans who give it their all and push the boundaries with their cosplays. That's why we've looked around for some of the most unique and epic Final Fantasy #Cosplay we could find.
Nine Awesome Final Fantasy Cosplays You Need To See
- 9 - Aerith Gainsborough (Final Fantasy VII)
This stunning Aerith cosplay looks like a character brought to life from the unreleased VII remake, not the blocky 1997 sprites. What we really love about this is how her expression taps into those painful memories we've been desperately trying to repress for nearly two decades now.
- 8 - Shiva (Final Fantasy XIII)
Final Fantasy XIII completely redesigned the look of Shiva—a character who wouldn't look too out of place in Avatar. Now she's part transformer, fusing with her sister to become a motorcycle and thus requiring the effort of not one, but two cosplayers.
- 7 - Yuna Tidus and Jecht Crosplay (Final Fantasy X)
The genderbent cast of Final Fantasy X certainly make for interesting fan fiction—any errant googling is done at your own risk. Joking aside, this shot from IDrewCosplay shows an alternate timeline where Jecht puts the moves on Yuna.
- 6 - Moogle Queen
DLC be damned, a little extra money wasn't enough to keep Riri cosplay from attempting this outfit from Lightning Returns.
Please note: No Moogles were harmed in the making of this cosplay.
- 5 - Cait Sith (Final Fantasy VII)
It's not easy to be a spy from an evil corporation, maybe that's why Mafiakiller looks so down despite the big smile plastered on this mascots face with her Rendition of Cait Sith.
- 4 - Chocolina (Final Fantasy XIII-2)
Chocolina is a crazy time travelling shopkeeper that keeps showing up throughout Final Fantasy XIII-2. She has some sort of mild obsession with Chocobos, which you can see in her rather bizarre attire.
So if Chocolina is a cosplayer in XIII-2, then WolfDemonGirl89 might have created cosplayception.
- 3 - Malboro (Various)
Monsters need a little love too, and navigating this Malboro through a convention feels like a huge task, let alone building the thing. As a monster that gives a number of negative status debuffs, it's no wonder people are keeping their distance.
- 2 - Moogle (Various)
I really wanted a Moogle on this list—the cute franchise mascots are always full of cheer and have appeared in most Final Fantasy titles to date. MimiruCosplayDiary captures that magic in this winter wonderland shoot that is perfectly kupo!
And lastly, since it it wouldn't be a Final Fantasy Cosplay list without a Cloud...
- 1 - Cloud Strife (Final Fantasy VII)
Akiba64 created true to the source material with his rendition of Final Fantasy VII's Cloud Strife, all the way down to those Popeye arms. He goes into more detail on his cosplay blog, but this is probably the best Cloud you'll ever see.
Honestly there are a ton of amazing costumes out there. If you're ever near a local convention I'd recommend heading up with a camera, enjoying the atmosphere and snapping a few pics. It's either that or stay home for the weekend and dress up the family pet.
