To say the Kingdom Hearts storyline has become a little convoluted is an understatement. When your third numbered instalment will be the 15th game in the franchise—with most some form of handheld exclusive—then you've probably got some fixing to do.
Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Trailer Revealed Alongside An Anniversary-Special Console
Kingdom Hearts 2.8 brings the last missing piece from the Remix collections, a HD remaster of Dream Drop Distance and two pieces of new content.
What's In The Box?
- Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover
A cinematic based on the Kingdom Hearts χ browser game released earlier this year, showcasing events not shown in the game.
- Kingdom Hearts 0.2: Birth by Sleep – A Fragmentary Passage
A new entry in the series, which takes place after the events of Dream Drop Distance and follows Aqua during her time in the realm of darkness, the story will tie into Kingdom Hearts 3 and use some of the same in-game tech.
If that wasn't enough Kingdom Hearts goodness, Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan and Square Enix also announced a special Kingdom Hearts 15th Anniversary Edition PlayStation 4 Slim console.
This will be released alongside Kingdom Hearts 2.8 in January next year and the cover can be purchased separately for #PS4Pro & PS4 Slim owners, or imported since it's yet to be confirmed for the west at this time.
Regardless of how much money you've spent on import fees, I'm just hoping #KingdomHearts3 drops the theme song. Nothing against Utada Hikaru, but the series has been relying on 'Simple and Clean' for about a decade too long now.
If you're as hyped as we are for Kingdom Hearts, then check out everything we know about Kingdom Hearts 3.
Are you excited for Kingdom Hearts 2.8? I can't wait for more Aqua, how about you?
