Civilization 6 has introduced a core mechanic that varies from its predecessor #Civilization5: Districts.

Districts are the little hex tiles that appear within your city, and they serve many functions both in how to build out your city at the beginning and how to optimize it in the late game.

What Are The Districts And What Do I Do With Them?

At their core, districts give bonuses to your cities based on what you place in them, and what's around them. This isn't to say there is only one correct way of using districts, or that you will use them all. Their bonuses become more or less relevant based on your playstyle, as well as what type of victory condition you want to win with.

Overall though, districts are generally governed by terrain, and you'll want to think about the natural environment around your city when planning out districts.
