To craft the best equipment, you're going to have to track down the rarest materials in the game. Keeping yourself stocked up isn't easy, but we've got the to locate everything you need to get going.

  • Metalburn

Metalburn is the rarest of the ammunition materials, and can only be obtained from corrupted machines, corruptors and deathbringers.

  • Animal Bones, Animal Skins

Animal bones and skins are rare drops off the local natural wildlife. You'll have to take out a lot of fuzzy, feathered and scaled creatures to get them, so you should pretty much always be on the lookout for hunting targets. If you need fish parts, you should pick a waterway and follow it, hunting every fish along the way.

  • Crystal Braiding

Crystal Braiding can be obtained from the following machines:

  • Behemoth
  • Rockbreaker
  • Stormbird
  • Thunderjaw
  • Deathbringer

Corrupted versions of these machines drop the crystal braiding more often, so if possible, hunt in corrupted areas.

  • Luminous Braiding

Luminous Braiding can be obtained from the following machines:

  • Corruptor
  • Fire Bellowback
  • Freeze Bellowback
  • Longleg
  • Ravager
  • Sawtooth
  • Shell-Walker
  • Snapmaw
  • Stalker
  • Trampler

As with Crystal Braiding, these materials will drop more often in corrupted areas.

  • Desert Glass, Slagshine Glass

Both of these materials drop from human enemies, so if you need either Desert Glass or Slagshine glass, head for a bandit camp and start hunting the most dangerous game.

  • Machine Hearts

Every machine has a heart, so finding a machine heart is simply a matter of locating the specific type you need. Check your map after climbing a longneck to locate the machine you want. Corrupted versions drop better materials, so aim for a corrupted area.

  • Machine Core - Medium

Machine Cores are obtained from the following creatures:

  • Corruptor
  • Fire Bellowback
  • Longleg
  • Ravager
  • Sawtooth
  • Shell-Walker
  • Snapmaw
  • Stalker

As with Machine Hearts, these will drop more often from corrupted machines.

Machine Core - Large

Large machine cores drop from large machines. If you're having trouble taking them down, don't forget to consult our guide on defeating them, these machines include:

  • Behemoth
  • Deathbringer
  • Rockbreaker
  • Stormbird
  • Thunderjaw

Corrupted large machines will drop both their hearts and cores more often.
