PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is all about survival of the fittest. Each match will test your skills in different ways and you'll need to have a firm grasp on the game's mechanics to take out your opponents, plus a bit of luck. And, you know, a leg up on where to find the best weapons, car spawn locations and how to improve performance never hurt anyone!
- Here's everything you need to know about PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds
But there's one other thing in particular that lots of players are hunting for out in the wilds: a gas mask. The face-adorning cosmetic item is highly sought after, but why? And where can you find one? If both of these questions are on your mind, well, it seems like you came to the right place then, doesn't it?
What The Gas Mask Does In 'PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds'
Here's all the madness you can anticipate in PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds:
Loads of people are searching for the answer and here it is: nothing. The mask does absolutely nothing. Sorry folks. Despite its popularity, it's purely cosmetic. However, what with how the game is being constantly updated, players have speculated that Battlegrounds may one day have smoke bombs and toxic grenades where a gas mask will come in handy.
For now though, it's just a badass-looking face hugger. One that a lot of people really want to have in PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. So, let's try and find it then, shall we?
Where To Find The Gas Mask In 'PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds'
Before we jump into the ways that you can find the gas mask, let's get this whole 'extra money' situation out of the way. Like many of the cosmetic items in the game, you can purchase the gas mask on the Steam Marketplace for around $2. You can certainly get lower, but you'll have to be patient and hunt. Though, if you're like me, you're not down for spending more money on the game. Sadly, this makes the gas mask rather hard to acquire.
The gas mask can be found randomly in one of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Pioneer Crates. It's simply a random loot drop. There will be tons of cosmetic items you can grab in these boxes, but actually getting the ones you want is highly unlikely. How you get one of the boxes though is simple: You'll need to amass BP, or Battleground Points, which are awarded at the end of matches, and the amount of them you receive is dependent on your performance.
But there's a catch. Once you buy one of these boxes, the price for another one goes up, sometimes even doubling. This means you'll need to earn more and more Battle Points as you go on (though hopefully you'll actually get better at the game as time passes). However, as they get more expensive, the loot gets better! So the more of the rarer boxes you purchase the more likely you getting that sweet, sweet gas mask will become.
So, will you be buying the gas mask or are you the patient, crate-looting type?
