The romantic potential is just as high in Mass Effect: Andromeda as it has been in other Mass Effect games. There are a wealth of opportunities for your Ryder twin to have a little fun in the middle of the madness and the relationship system has received quite the facelift. With that being said, you're probably wondering just how far you can take things with all of the game's different romantic interests.

Are Multiple Romances Possible In 'Mass Effect: Andromeda'?

With so many options available, the big question is: "Can you have multiple relationships in ?" The short answer is yes. However, unlike previous Mass Effect games, things are a bit more complicated this time around. Relationships just aren't as straightforward as they used to be!

Let me explain...

Relationships Have Varying Levels Of Depth

As in real life, there are two different degrees of "together-ness" in Mass Effect: Andromeda: casual and serious. All of the dateable characters are available for a different type of relationship depending on their personality and your interactions.

  • You can maintain multiple casual relationships. Balancing a "Friends With Benefits" relationship with a fling here and there is no problem in Andromeda. Have at it!
  • You cannot have more than one serious relationship. Committing to a more serious relationship will lock you into certain paths. Whether or not some degree of infidelity is possible is yet to be revealed.

Dateable characters also have differing preferences that will make them available to the male Ryder twin, female Ryder twin or both.

  • Cora (Serious)
  • Gil (Serious, Casual)
  • Keri (Casual)
  • Peebee (Serious, Casual)
  • Reyes Vidal (Serious, Casual)
  • Vetra (Serious)

Relationships for Female Ryder

  • Jaal (Serious)

There Are Rewards For The More Adventurous

For the players out there that are interested in living life on the edge, there is an achievement/trophy available to incentivize the diversification of your romantic assets. That trophy is called "Matchmaker" and it requires you to romance three different characters to get it.

To be clear, the Matchmaker trophy isn't really about polygamous edginess as much as it is about trying out all of your options. You don't have to engage in all three encounters during one playthrough—your progress is valid across multiple playthroughs.

However, based on the current sentiment, I'm not sure how much replay value the game will have once you're through. Whether or not you'll have the strength to do it all again is really up to you. Happy loving!

Will you be going for the Bronze with the Matchmaker achievement?
