The potential for romantic entaglements is just as high in Mass Effect: Andromeda as it has been in other Mass Effect games. There are a wealth of opportunities for your Ryder twin to have a little fun in the middle of the madness and the relationship system has received quite the facelift. With all the changes to the relationship system, you might be wondering just how far you can take things with all of the Andromeda's different romantic interests.

Are Multiple Romances Possible In 'Mass Effect: Andromeda'?

Check out the romances in action below:

With so many options available, the big question is: "Can you have multiple relationships in ?" The short answer is yes. However, unlike previous games, things are a bit more complicated this time around. It seems like relationships just aren't as straightforward as they used to be, but we're here to you on the path to love.

Relationships Have Varying Levels Of Depth

There are two different degrees of relationship depth in Mass Effect: Andromeda: casual and serious. All of the characters you can date are available for a different type of relationship depending on their personality and your interactions. Occasionally, characters will have different sex scenes depending on whether your relationship with them is casual or serious as well.

  • You can maintain multiple casual relationships. Balancing a "Friends With Benefits" relationship with a fling here and there is no problem in Andromeda. Have at it!
  • You cannot have more than one serious relationship. Committing to a more serious relationship will lock you into certain paths. Once you commit to a serious relationship, flirting with other characters will lead to a "friends" version of their scene.

Characters you can date also have differing preferences that will make them available to the male Ryder twin, female Ryder twin or both.

For the players out there that are interested in living life on the edge, there is an achievement/trophy available to incentivize the diversification of your romantic assets. That trophy is called "Matchmaker" and it requires you to romance three different characters to get it.

To be clear, the Matchmaker trophy isn't really about polygamous edginess as much as it is about trying out all of your options. You don't have to engage in all three encounters during one playthrough—your progress is valid across multiple playthroughs. It's a great way to add some replayability to the game, something to do on the side while learning what absurd power combos you can get going with the different classes.
