In an online milieu that seems to be rapidly dividing the human race into rabidly opposing echo chambers, one particular issue offers hope of unity in these troubled times. Logan has definitely proved that Hugh Jackman should play Joel in The Last of Us movie.
Watch the trailer for The Last of Us and honestly tell us that you don't want a big movie adaptation:
Pop culture fanatics love to argue and debate endlessly, but Logan's atmosphere, coupled with Jackman's rugged-yet-paternal looks, have almost everyone nodding in unison. It perfectly captures the same vibe as #TheLastOfUs.
A post apocalyptic story about a man who has loved and lost everything and finds himself with a young girl placed into his care. Throughout the story he protects this girl, and (presumably) learns to love again. Sound familiar?
The internet certainly thinks so, and won't stop making side by side comparisons that prove it.
Seriously, Hugh Jackman Is Joel
Right down to his facial expressions, this rugged Aussie nails it. Jackman's Wolverine in Logan proves he has the range to be tough, caring, brooding and vicious. Not to mention totally capable of rocking a flannel shirt while walking around a desolate landscape.
Sadly, according to Naughty Dog, The Last Of Us movie has been stalled for a couple of years now. We hope it's not down to casting problems, because it's just so friggin' obvious:
Any dissenters? Really? Just look Hugh in the eye and tell it to his face:
Hugh Jackman is the obvious go-to for Joel, but we've also got good ideas for all the supporting roles.
Beg To Differ?
We haven't seen so many pop culture junkies sound out with one voice on a fan casting like this in a long time, but there are some dissenting voices out there in the wilderness, raving about Josh Brolin, Gerard Butler, or Dylan McDermott.
Hmm...maybe, but then you see something like this fan trailer by Barely Average Videos:
Seriously. Don't listen to them. Jackman is the one.
Do you agree with the internet on this one, or do you think you have a better choice for Joel?
