Kingdom Hearts is an action RPG series known for mixing Final Fantasy and Disney characters. It has a somewhat convoluted plot-line, mostly due to the numerous plot threads created in each game. It's also known for letting players explore a number of worlds based on #Disney movies—Halloween Town, Olympus, Agrabah etc.
We've explored a number of these worlds, but with each new film there's a new place for us to visit. Here's everywhere we've been, where we're going and where we want to go in #KingdomHearts3.

New Worlds Confirmed For 'Kingdom Hearts 3'
With the mixture of fan favorites, banal worlds and places we hated to visit—looking at you Atlantica—out of the way, let's take a look at all of the worlds that have been confirmed for the biggest installment of the franchise on the horizon: Kingdom Hearts 3.
Kingdom of Corona - 'Tangled'
The Kingdom of Corona is a world based on Tangled and was showcased in the E3 2015 trailer for Kingdom Hearts 3. You can see Rapunzel's tower in the distance, where a new heartless appears before Sora. It's been confirmed Rapunzel will play an important role in this world, but we're not sure to what extent yet.
'Big Hero 6'
Whilst we're not sure what the world will be called, Roy Conil from the Walt Disney Animation Studio has confirmed Sora will be visiting San Fransokyo—a mix between Tokyo and San Francisco.
This adventure will be set after the events of Big Hero 6, so when Hiro and the gang have formed their superhero team. Fans of the film will get a little taste of what happened next and #KingdomHearts fans will get to meet Baymax, which is all we really wanted.
Worlds We Want To See In 'Kingdom Hearts 3'
Those are some pretty exciting announcements and no doubt series director Tetsuya Nomura has more planned. Though we've got a few suggestions of our own for Kingdom Hearts 3.
Disney may not own Studio Ghibli, but they've published a number of their products in the West in the past. If Ghibli allow the use of their properties, that would open up countless opportunities for new worlds in Kingdom Hearts 3.
Howl's Moving Castle would make for an interesting world, especially considering the war-torn city-states and the opportunity to use the castle as a hub between zones—it also means we'd get to talk to Calcifer.
Alternatively if I was looking for an awesome party member, Howl would have to move over. The Baron from the Cat Returns would make for an incredibly suave party member. Perhaps we're in need for a trip to the Kingdom of Cats?
'Lilo & Stitch'
This might get overshadowed by the recent release of Moana and the fact that the Deep Space level in Birth By Sleep was based on Lilo and Stitch, however I'd like to return to the Hawaiian islands the film is set on.
The contrast between day and night in the movie would transfer beautifully to the game, allowing for sunny days and dark nights, which would be a great way to summon heartless from the shadows. Plus after mistaking Donald and Goofy for hostile aliens, Cobra Bubbles would make for a great boss fight.
So far Kingdom Hearts hasn't ventured into a #Pixar world, if that changes with Kingdom Hearts 3 then we open up a treasure trove of new possibilities.
Brave would make for a likely candidate, but if we really want to push the envelope then Sora, Donald and Goofy should travel into Monsters Inc., in which case Sora will be the person out of place.
Alternatively we could go all Inside Out with Donald, finally understanding why his emotions refuse to let him heal Sora on time. Scrap that thought, I don't want to spend any more time with Donald than necessary.
'Final Fantasy XV'
No doubt we'll see new unique locations, as each game often has its own hub world which are often populated by Final Fantasy characters, and there are plenty of them we'd love to see in one location. Since Final Fantasy XV featured a Kingdom Hearts reference, I'd love to see our black leather clad boy band show up for a short cameo.
Star Wars & Marvel
Whilst it's unlikely we'll see Star Wars or Marvel in Kingdom Hearts 3, it isn't completely impossible. The Pirates of the Caribbean-inspired Port Royal level in Kingdom Hearts 2 was a pleasant surprise.
Visiting the Star Wars franchise would be a good chance for Square Enix to pay respect to the late Carrie Fisher and an opportunity to take out some unresolved decade old frustration with Jar Jar Binks. Marvel might be even more unlikely since the Avengers feels a little similar to Big Hero 6, which we've discussed above.
I wouldn't write either of these off completely, since Tetsuya Nomura is always quick to jump onto a new Disney acquisition.
“Whenever I hear of the news, I always say, ‘woah…they’ve done it again.’”
“The first thing I do when I find out this news is contact Disney and see if it’s something I can use [in Kingdom Hearts].”
We followed up by asking him if Disney had ever answered with a yes, to which he replied, “Disney’s companies are all very different. Sometimes the answer is ‘absolutely no,’ and sometimes the answer is, ‘…hmm, we don’t know...’” - Tetsuya Nomura, Kingdom Hearts Director
If you're excited for Kingdom Hearts 3, you'll want to keep an eye out for Kingdom Hearts 2.8 which will bring fans up to speed for Kingdom Hearts 3.
