Following the amazing trailer and world reveal at D23, Game Director Tetsuya Nomura sat down with Famitsu for an interview, where it was revealed that the Toy Story world will take place in the same timeline as the films — after Toy Story 2 but before Toy Story 3. This means that, essentially, Kingdom Hearts is now also canon in the Pixar theory.

Well — also revealed in the interview with Famitsu — Nomura stated that there have been discussions of a Kingdom Hearts movie akin to Final Fantasy 7's Advent Children. Now obviously nothing's really come from the discussions besides the fact that they've happened. For those of you that don't know, a while ago it was revealed that back when the first Kingdom Hearts was released there was a TV show also in the works. Sadly, nothing ever came from that, but now there might just be a chance for something to happen. And if it did, it would technically also fall in with the Theory.

For anyone who doesn't know, the Pixar Theory basically says that every Pixar movie is set in the same universe. It was also announced at D23 that the world in Kingdom Hearts 3 would be its own story, and take place in the same timeline as the films. This is different than a lot of the other worlds we've gotten so far in the series, which usually follow the same plot of the movie they happen to be based off of. So, long story short, Kingdom Hearts is now part of the theorized Pixar canon.

The idea of a Kingdom Hearts film has been something floating around the fanbase for a long time, but we never got any real news about an adaptation until a few months ago when the TV Show plans showed up. Now, however, we could potentially be seeing a real chance at a Kingdom Hearts film. Whether or not it would be produced by or is unknown, but we do know that Disney has been the one pushing the talks, not Square. So there is a very real possibility that we could see a Kingdom Hearts installment on the big screen in a few years.

What do you think about the possibility of a Kingdom Hearts film? What about Kingdom Hearts being part of the Pixar canon? Let us know in the comments!
