A new level pack is available for LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and in it we find out what Poe was up to in the movie when he was off screen. Poe's Quest for Survival lets players experience just how Poe Dameron makes it back to the D’Qar Resistance base after crash-landing and disappearing on Jakku.

"Fans can now experience Poe Dameron’s journey back to the Resistance base after his daring escape from the First Order. While stranded on Jakku, Poe must locate a ship to get off the desert planet in an effort to find his way home. Playable characters and vehicles include: Naka Iit, Ohn Gos, Poe Dameron (Jakku), Strus Clan Leader, Strus Clan Raider, Strus Clan Speeder (Full-size Vehicle) and Strus Clan Speeder (Microfighter Vehicle)."

We already knew the LEGO Star Wars would include movie backstory, and it's great that it's revealing off screen moments which, while not entirely relevant to the movie's overall plot, are still interesting to fans.

Players will be able to play through the entirety of Poe's harrowing journey involving scavengers, merchants and exciting battles.

Canon? Maybe?

Unfortunately, since it's only seen as a side plot in a game, we're left to wonder "Is this really canon?" Disney had no trouble declaring the Star Wars Expanded Universe officially no longer part of the franchise's canon, which could set a precedent of retconning anything troublesome or convoluted.

Besides, sometimes the LEGO game has been known to play a little with the story for the sake of gameplay. I hope that it's part of the canon though, as it offers a great way to tell these side stories the fans are interested in but might not translate well on the big screen.

LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens is available on PlayStation and Xbox consoles, as well as Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. There is a Deluxe Edition also available on PS4 and Xbox One.
