In one of the strangest crossovers of game franchises, Ubisoft brought Raving Rabbids to E3 in a big way—this time with the legendary, Shigeru Miyamoto.

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle brings the legacy of Super Mario and the frenetic fury of Rabbids together into one of the most unique games I've seen in a while. As a tactical, turn-based RPG this game will be one of the cutest games you'll play for years.

The game plays as a mix of XCOM-styled, top-down, turn-based combat with a good amount of exploration... and, you know, derpy bunnies and Mario characters instead of space soldiers.

Yet as incredible as the game looks, the most breathtaking moment of Ubisoft's press conference was the moment that Miyamoto walked onto the stage opposite CEO and co-founder of Ubisoft, Yves Guillemot.

This partnership comes after years of wondering what the world could look like if the rabbids infested the world of Mario, and it's a beautiful reminder of what pure gaming joy looks like.

The On-Stage Bromance Between Miyamoto And Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot Was Amazing

No matter your opinion about either game franchises, the truth is that this game is everything that gives every gamer a smile, because it shows us that even the legends in the gaming industry understand what makes games the purest form of entertainment and story telling.

We may never see a collaboration in gaming reach the level of wholesome entertainment that we witnesses with Guillemot and Miyamoto on stage at E3.

Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle will be available on the Nintendo Switch on August 29, 2017
