Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite is one of the most highly anticipated games of the year with fans eagerly awaiting announcements about the roster, hoping that their favorite characters are included. My biggest hope is for Capcom to add some of the young/legacy Marvel characters to the cast this time around. Over the years, Marvel has been doing a great job of introducing a lot of new and unique characters into their comic book universe. So, with that said, here's eight young characters that should be in Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite.
8. America Chavez
She's beauty, she's grace, she'll punch you in the face. America Chavez is one of my favorite recent characters from Marvel; tough, sassy, and always in cool attire. She can fly, run at superhuman speeds, has super strength, and invulnerability, but what makes her powerset standout is her ability to travel to other realities/dimensions. America Chavez literally kicks open portals to other worlds.
This ability could be used for the plot of the Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite since it seems to involve other realities and dimensions. America Chavez could also have a pretty cool 'hyper move' where she opens up a portal and throws her opponent into it.
Mania wears a symbiote that's a clone of the original Venom symbiote. What makes Mania's symbiote different is that it has a Hell-Mark that allows her to conjure hellfire and summon, subjugate, and control lesser demons. Now, with a powerset like that she would be incredibly fun to play. Venom powers, summoning demons, conjuring hellfire; with all those abilities I would love to see what Capcom could do.
Mania (Andrea Benton) has only appeared in 18 issues and I want her to be in Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite. Now you might be saying "She's only appeared in 18 issues so far, that's pretty obscure." Well the Marvel vs Capcom series has had many obscure characters. Introducing obscure characters like Mania could make them popular by showing them to a whole new audience who other wise didn't know this character existed.
6. Quentin Quire a.k.a Kid Omega
Quentin Quire considers himself to be one of the most important mutants of all-time, and for good reason. He's an Omega Level Mutant with powerful telepathic and psionic powers. He's also destined to become the next host of the Phoenix Force. Why I think Quentin Quire would fit in a fighting game like Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite is because of his psionic powers. By channeling his mental energy as astral energy, Quentin is able to make psionic weapons such as a shotgun, revolvers, a rocket launcher, and a shield.
Capcom could add more psionic weapons to his powerset in the game such as psionic swords, or knifes for melee combat. Another reason Quentin Quire would be great for Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite is his personality. Quentin Quire is a sarcastic, cocky little jerk and his interactions with the other characters in the game would be great and hilarious to see. Quentin Quire is also an X-Men character, something fans really want to see in the game. If Quentin Quire were to join the Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite roster he would definitely be one of the most unique and interesting characters in the franchise.
Also, this should be his theme song if he were to be in the game.
5. Kid Kaiju
Kid Kaiju is an Inhuman with the power to bring to life the giant monsters he draws. Since Kid Kaiju can bring giant monsters to life, Capcom could make a unique moveset surrounding this power. He could play like the Pokemon Trainer from Smash Bros. switching in and out his giant monsters. Each monster could play differently from one another with unique animations. It would be interesting to see what Capcom would do with a character like Kid Kaiju, he would for sure be a unique addition to Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite if he were to join the game's roster.
Gwenpool first appeared in a variant cover, and ever since she's been gaining popularity among fans. Gwenpool has no actual powers, but she does know every character's secret identity, and she uses a lot of weapons. Now if Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite were to add Gwenpool to the roster, there are two ways Capcom could design her. They could design her as a joke character like Phoenix Wright (something the game doesn't seem to have at the moment), or Capcom could design Gwenpool is by incorporating her vast array of weapons into her moveset (similar to how they designed Frank West in Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3).
3. Wolverine (Laura Kinney)
After the death of the original Wolverine (James Howlett) his clone, Laura Kinney (better known as X-23) took up the mantle of Wolverine. Laura Kinney is no stranger to the Marvel vs Capcom franchise as she was a part of the roster for Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 as X-23. If Laura Kinney were to join Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite as Wolverine, Capcom could make her a new moveset by mixing attributes of Wolverine's (James Howlett) moveset, and her X-23 moveset from Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. Laura Kinney is a great legacy character, and a character Marvel wants to push; a nice way to push this character is by putting her into other media such as games.
2. Ghost Rider (Robbie Reyes)
Since Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite seems to be bringing a lot of heroes from the MCU. This would be a perfect opportunity to bring in Robbie Reyes, the most recent Ghost Rider in the comics and the Ghost Rider of the MCU. Capcom could make Robbie a speed base character since in the comics his fighting style is based on speed and agility. Capcom also can incorporate Robbie's car similar to how they incorporated Johnny Blaze's (Ghost Rider) motorcycle from Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3.
1. Ms.Marvel (Kamala Khan)
Ms.Marvel (Kamala Khan) is possibly the most popular legacy/young hero from Marvel besides Miles Morales (Spider-Man). Now her popularity isn't the only reason she makes the number one spot, it's also because of her powers. Ms. Marvel is an Inhuman with the ability to stretch (like Mister Fantastic), grow in size, shrink in size, shapeshift, and she has a healing factor. With powers like those she's pretty much fighting game ready.
Her stretching powers can be used for neutral attacks, blocking, and grabs. Ms. Marvel's growing and shrinking abilities can be used in her hypermoves. Her shapeshifting abilities can be taunts where she transforms into her opponents and makes a joke.
Her series is critically acclaimed, she has huge fanbase that has a lot of new Marvel fans, and she's one of Marvel's highest selling characters in trades. It would be wise for Capcom to put a character like Ms. Marvel in Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite. She's proven to have a lot appeal among fans, and she could bring a lot new fans to the Marvel vs Capcom franchise.
Most of my (and many other's) favorite characters in comics are young/legacy heroes. I feel they add a different, interesting perspective to the world they're in, and are often the most relatable. Even if none of these characters in this article make it into the Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite's main cast, there's always DLC.
If you want any of these characters in this article, or any Marvel, or Capcom character in Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite I implore you to make some noise about it. Write an article on your blog about the character you want and why you think they're a good fit for the game. Make a YouTube video about the characters you want in the game. Tweet (don't spam) at Capcom. Because at the end of the day we're the fans and we are apart of what makes these games great.
