In a few months, Marvel Vs. Capcom's latest installment in arcade-style video games will finally be released. After over five years of waiting for a new game in the series, #MarvelVsCapcomInfinite is sure to satisfy fans who've been patiently hoping for a new release. If you're a fan of the original games, however, you may be displeased to hear that all the X-Men characters have been removed. Classic X-Men characters like Wolverine and Magneto have been replaced by as-yet-unidentified additions to the new game.
The good news is that a list of characters for Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite has apparently been leaked via Reddit. A screenshot of the character list was posted online before being removed shortly after. Luckily, a clever fan saved a photo of the list and tweeted it out. Check it out below:
While the roster hasn't been verified for legitimacy, it appears to coincide with the teases we've seen so far. You can see in the above tweet that Thanos is on the character select screen, when he's being introduced as a returning character to Marvel Vs. Capcom, so there's some legitimacy in the tweet. Thanos first appeared in Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, but wound up being left out of the third game in the series. Luckily, Thanos is back in action and ready to take on the new big-bad, Ultron Sigma.
Apart from Thanos joining Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite, the aforementioned roster also includes the following characters as new additions. Here's the list of new additions to Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite.
- Black Panther
- Captain Marvel
- Dahren Morhan (Elder Dragon from Monster Hunter)
- Hunter (Possible generic Hunter from Monster Hunter)
- Death (Mistress Death)
- PlutoGrandmaster (Marvel's Grandmaster?)
- Red Arremer (Firebrand)
- Rocket Raccoon
- SymbioteSoldier (Flash Thompson's Agent Venom)
- Venom (Eddie Brock)
- Winter Soldier (Marvel's Bucky Barnes)
With these new characters being added to the roster of Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite, it appears as though adequate additions have been chosen to replace the X-Men, althought there's still a degree of disappointment there. Of course, we should remain open to the possibility that a better deal will be crafted for the X-Men to return, possibly in a future DLC pack.
