Mass Effect: Andromeda is releasing on PS4, Xbox One & PC this March, but when exactly will the game unlock and become playable in your region? How long do you have to wait to experience the next epic chapter in the Mass Effect franchise?
As with many other video games and movies in this day and age, the people of our world are not getting access to the joys of new entertainment simultaneously. Such is life in a global capitalistic economy and a time-zone divided reality.
When Does 'Mass Effect: Andromeda' Unlock In Your Region?
Unfortunately, some have to wait for #Andromeda a lot longer than others. Here are some details about when exactly you'll be able to initiate your next great adventure in the Mass Effect saga, depending on which country or region you call home.
10 Hours Early Access On PC Available Now
- Region: Everywhere
- Unlocks/release date: Officially March 16, 12 AM universally, though the early access fast forwarded to be available from March 15, 5.30 PM EDT in the US and 9.30 PM GMT in the EU.
The earliest way to play Mass Effect Andromeda is to join EA's Origin Access membership if you're placing the game on PC. This allows you to play the game for 10 hours, giving you a nice head start before the game officially releases a few days later. Any progress you make in the 10 hours carries over to the full version.
March 21: North America, China, Canada, Russia & Elsewhere
- Release date: March 21, 12 AM
- Regions that unlocks on this date: North America, Canada, South America (except Brazil), China, Mexico, Russia and South East Asia
Mass Effect: Andromeda is officially released in North America at 12 AM EDT. Since the release is tied to the EDT timezone, people living on the West Coast, Alaska or Hawaii will effectively be able to access the game earlier than their countrymen.
As the release is on a weekday and you probably have to get up to work or school the day after, these extra hours can be pretty valuable, as you won't have to wait with the gaming until midnight.
March 23: Europe, Brazil, Australia & The Middle East
- Release date: March 23, 12 AM
- Regions that unlocks on this date: Africa, Australia, Brazil, Europe, Israel, Middle East and New Zealand
Europe will gain access to Mass Effect: Andromeda almost two full days later than their American friends. A bummer if you're staying in the old continent, but something most video game enthusiasts from that part of the world are used to. It's even worse if you're from Australia or New Zealand.
Since the release in Europe is happening at 12 AM Central European Time, people from the UK and Portugal will have access to the game from 11 PM while folks living in the Baltic countries or the eastern fringes of the continent will have to wait until 1 AM.
