Despite originating from a fan-made Pokemon trailer celebrating the franchise's 20th anniversary, this tagline perfectly encapsulates the spirit of Pokemon Sun and Moon. Having grown up with the games' colorful cast of characters, familiar Pocket Monsters and refined battle mechanics, #Pokemon fans are now after something excitingly new, yet reminiscent of the good old days.

Judging by Sun and Moon's latest trailer, Game Freak has gone all out, serving up a delicious blend of fan-favorite stalwarts, divisive new characters, and downright insane Alola forms, not to mention the generous sprinkling of new features. And talking of fan favorites....

Trainers Red and Blue (AKA the player and Gary Oak) are back!

That's right, those two Trainers who first greeted us when we booted up our Game Boys in 1996 are returning to Sun and Moon. Just like you, they're all grown up.

You've Changed, Man

The years have been harsh on Red, who's looking rather haggard. But he is still the strong and silent type we remember, communicating entirely in ellipses.

Red and Blue aren't likely to crop up in Pokemon Sun and Moon's main storyline, but instead seem to appear in a post-game battle tree, which is home to some other faces you might recognize.

According to the trailer, we will also "witness the beginning of the Alolan Pokemon League" which is currently under construction.
