Waiting to hit the trail with the hotly-anticipated follow-up to Red Dead Redemption? You'll be saddened to learn that #RedDeadRedemption2 has been delayed until Spring 2018. Rockstar Games delayed the sequel for a simple reason: it's not ready for release.
Rockstar has been known to delay major titles in the past, as when Grand Theft Auto V was pushed from early 2013 to September 17, 2013. Bear in mind, the final products usually turned out to be well worth the wait.
Regardless of how great the final product is, you may still be disappointed at the game's delay. Fortunately, Rockstar released a few new screenshots to make up for the schedule setback. These new images tease the story, a prequel for Red Dead Redemption.
Rockstar Releases New Screenshots To Ease Our Disappointment
Precisely where the story will take place is uncertain. Fans of the Red Dead Redemption series probably assume the story will revolve around Dutch's gang, with John Marston set as the protagonist. The screenshots depict a gang traveling together, so there's a good chance the images are of John Marston, Dutch Van Der Linde, Bill Williamson, and the rest of their gang. Check out the images below:
Who's this man, with his face covered and pistols drawn? Is this John Marston? Or is the screenshot of a potential antagonist we'll see Marston take on in Red Dead Redemption 2?
We can't tell who any of the men are in this caravan traveling with a gang in tow. Could the passenger on the wagon, or the man leading the pack be John Marston?
Another image of a gang riding together, and Rockstar is three for three when it comes to hiding character identities. A reasonable guess would say they're part of a rival gang... unless this image is in fact a first look at John Marston's gang before he turned his life around. In which case, this may be John alongside Bill Williamson's gang, or an entirely different crew of bandits he worked with.
What About The Story?
Apart from the screenshots, the real intrigue is what context these images add to the plot. Hopefully, new details will add background to these shots, so we can get a decent grasp of what's in store for Red Dead Redemption 2. And to be fair, this would be a good time to start releasing story details, with fans being none too pleased about the longer wait for RDR2 , now that it has been pushed back for practically another year.
Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released on Playstation 4 and XboxOne in Spring, 2018.
