The Red Dead hype train has officially left the station.

Everyone has been closely watching #Rockstar social media after they teased a series of cryptic images from their Twitter over the past week. As many expected, it was all leading up to the announcement of the highly anticipated Red Dead Redemption 2 and the accompanying trailer that you absolutely have to watch.

Check it out:

Immediately the stunning visuals of the new game stand out and blast you in the face. The trailer showcases a myriad of environments from a tranquil forest, to a peaceful lake, to the main street of a shanty town.

Rockstar's polish on environment gives us the feeling that we'll get to enjoy the same type of open world gunslinging that we've grown accustomed to over the last 10 years. But its clear that graphically this is an incredible upgrade, possibly exceeding what we've seen from any Rockstar game in the past.

The trailer all but confirms what many fans have theorized over the past week—that the inappropriately named Red Dead Redemption 2 is actually a prequel. The first game's main protagonist John Marston will likely be making his return as well as the notorious Dutch van der Linde and Bill Williamson.

And now comes the long wait until the game's release in Fall 2017. We'll be counting down the days along side you. Make sure to check back for more Red Dead news as we move closer to launch day.
