Daughters is one of the tape missions in the second DLC pack for Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, released for, #PC, #PS4 and #XboxOne. There are two possible endings to Daughters, but only one is the true ending. This guide will show you how to get the true ending in RE7 Banned Footage Vol 2: Daughters.
The scenario in #ResidentEvil7 Daughters takes us back to just before Eveline corrupts the Baker family, turning them into insane cannibals.
Zoe watches a news report on a recent hurricane that has flooded parts of Louisiana which leads into a segment on a missing ship that vanished from the Gulf of Mexico. It's this ship that carries Mia and Eveline, kicking off the horrific events that drive the plot of the game.
Jack appears carrying an unconscious Eveline in his arms, and Marguerite insists she be put to bed in Lucas' old room and asks Zoe (the player character) to fetch her some fresh clothes. It's a touching moment showing the Baker family as their true good-hearted selves, but it's not going to last.
Here's how to guide Zoe to her True Ending in Daughters, in seven easy steps:
Step 1 - Get Lucas' Code & The Lock Pick
The obvious thing to do is to go and get the clothes for Eveline from the Laundry Room, but to get the True ending, there are two important things you'll need to do first.
After Marguerite says she's going to make some soup and gets Lucas to move out of her way, he’ll sit down at the table and pull out his phone. Take a look over his shoulder so you can see what his unlock code is and make a note of it. This will come in handy later on.
Then head into the storage room to the right of the kitchen. This room has an underground tunnel leading to the Laundry. Drop down into the hole and pick up the Lock Pick, BUT do not be tempted to use the Lock Pick on the locked drawer in the storage room. It'll actually lock you out of the True Ending.
Step 2 - Get the Clean Clothes & Small Component
Once you have the Lock Pick, head into the Laundry and grab the Clean Clothes off the table in the far left corner. Head upstairs and enter the first door to your right to get to the Bathroom.
Go around the bathtub and use the Lock Pick on the locked drawer. Open it and grab the Small Component. Then go to the Child's Room.
Step 3 - Get To The Attic & Unlock Lucas' Computer
Upon entering the Child’s Room a short cutscene will play out. Despite Jack's instructions, do not go over towards Eveline immediately. Instead, go to the trophy on the cabinet against the same wall as the door. Use the Small Component and a ladder will drop from the attic.
Go up the ladder into the attic and check out the laptop. The code to unlock the computer is the same as Lucas' phone (Dum-dum). Unlock it and you'll find notes which mention Jack throwing out Lucas' stuff from the red box on the veranda.
Go back down the ladder and head over to Eveline. She'll wake up, turn out the lights and disappear, leaving you in the dark. Use R2/RT to turn your lighter on and go back out to the corridor.
Step 4 - Find Lucas & Marguerite
Head back towards the stairs and you'll soon hear a thump. Go downstairs to the Kitchen and you'll find Lucas out cold on the floor. Go over to him and check him out, though there's nothing you can do.
Go back upstairs and enter the bathroom where you can hear several odd noises and your parents' voices. Open the door for a nasty cutscene. Jack will appear and send you to fetch some rope from the garage.
It's time to go back downstairs head on to the garage.
Step 5 - Collect the Rope, Fork and Dog's Head
Press the button to open the garage door and head inside. The rope will be hanging from the shelves straight ahead. Grab it and go back upstairs.
Once you open the bathroom door you'll find a dismaying scene. Jack has succumbed to Eveline and is trying to drown Marguerite. He'll turn his attention on you, but you can escape. When you regain control, perform a quick turn (Back + O or Back + B) and run.
Turn left and open the door into the room with the pool table. Use the rope on the hook to the left of the door to lock Jack out. Then head into the small room to the right of the pool table and pick up the Fork from the dresser. What we wouldn't give for a knife, too.
Go over to the window in the far right corner of the room, opposite the small bedroom, and use the Fork on the nails holding the board in place. Climb out the window, turn right and walk to the end of the veranda. There's a piece of tin that you can interact with, but ignore that for now.
Keep going straight and you'll spot a narrow passage you can squeeze down. Head through this passage and open the red box on the other side. Inside is the Dog's Head emblem. Pick it up and then go back through the narrow passage. Now interact with the tin.
Step 6 - Go Downstairs, Avoid Marguerite & Get To The Trailer
Crouch and sneak through the gap where the tin used to be. You'll see Lucas being dragged into the Child's room by Jack, but ignore them, you've got to focus on saving yourself. Go through the open doorway on the left, into the main hall.
Stay crouched and turn the lighter off. Marguerite is patrolling downstairs and if she catches you it's game over.
Study her movements and wait for the moment she freaks out and spasms. That's your chance to get over to the front door. You can stand up, but don't sprint or you'll give away your position.
Use the Dog's Head emblem on the front door and escape outside into the rain. Now you can safely sprint again. Go to the trailer and get inside.
Step 7 - Find Mia, Read Her Note
Mia is lying on the floor with the D-Series Head by her side.
Inspect the D-Series Head and then read the note on the table. The lights go out and you'll hear Eveline's laughter. Turn around and she'll come at straight at you. Everything goes black.
How does Eveline compare to the classic bosses of Resident Evil? Check them out in this video:
You'll come to your senses again and find yourself at the Baker family kitchen table, to see the True Ending play out in front of you. At first, it even seems like everything is back to normal...
