Thanks to an incredibly disgusting contest for South Park: The Fractured But Whole, your flatulence could make you video game famous.
In what's surely a first for a game developer, Ubisoft just announced that players can submit the sound of themselves passing gas for a chance at appearing in the latest South Park title. The absurd contest, "I Am The Fart," runs from now until October 16th and will be judged by the #Ubisoft San Francisco team, a representative from South Park Digital Studios and the British farting hero Mr. Methane.
Here's an equally absurd promotional video for the contest.
South Park: The Fractured But Whole is the long-awaited followup to Obsidian Entertainment's The Stick of Truth. If it sounds particularly immature, even for South Park, co-creator Matt Stone defended this genre of humor on NPR back in 2010:
"That was all you had to joke about because you hadn't had sex yet. All you have are poo and farts. That was your sexual life. It's just poo and farts. That's, like, the biggest thing you have going. That's the most subversive thing you can talk about."
The contest winner will be flown out to San Francisco to record, uh, sound effects to be used in The Fractured But Whole. Through the game, players will have full control of their characters' butts, determining just how much gas should be passed.
After several delays, South Park: The Fractured But Whole will be released on PS4, Xbox One and PC on October 17th.
South Park airs Wednesdays on Comedy Central.
