I know it's early, and Black Friday is still fresh in the memory, but there's something we have to talk about. Yes, you guessed it, it's the #Steam Winter Sale that has just been confirmed. Steam sales are renowned for being pretty awesome, and this one is set to be a whopper.

This year's sale will begin on the 22nd December and will last until 2nd January, one of the longest in Steam's history. In preparation for it, this article will list some of the big name #VideoGames that PC, Mac or Linux gamers will need to keep their eye on over Christmas.
Top Games To Keep Your Eye On In The Steam Winter Sale
- Civilisation VI
This game hit the shelves earlier this year and since then gamers haven't stopped talking about it, and, of course, playing it. It's the next installment in the massive strategy franchise, bringing expansive cities, active research, a better diplomacy system and much deeper gameplay overall.
It's by far the biggest game to come out on Steam in the last few months, and one of the best strategy games in a long time. We saw the game with a 10% discount in the Steam Autumn Sale, so don't be surprised to see it on sale again this December!
- Space Hulk Deathwing
This badass Warhammer 40k-inspired game is set to come out on December 9th, so we are also expecting it to feature heavily in the Winter sale. Deathwing is an FPS which will see players taking on the role of a Space Marine Terminator, the most feared of Space Marines. You and your team will delve deep into the claustrophobic tunnels of a Space Hulk, a tangle of ship wrecks and stellar debris left adrift in space.
In the Autumn Sale, Stellaris had a 33% discount, and we are expecting more of the same in a few weeks. This grand-space-strategy-game has racked up tonnes of great reviews since its initial release in May, and it has definitely shocked the community with its popularity. Coming from the same leading developers that created Crusader Kings and Europa Universalis, this game allows players to literally forge a galactic empire.
From the time of writing, Steep is set to be released in approximately 7 hours. This is the next big thing in the winter sports genre, offering players a huge open world based in the Alps in which they can ski, snowboard, paraglide and base jump to their heart's content.
By seamlessly being able to meet, compete and challenge others, the game becomes a massive multiplayer experience too. If you liked SSX or Amped, but are looking for more realism and adrenaline, then you should keep your eye out for this in the winter sale.
- Total War: WARHAMMER - Realm of The Wood Elves
Realm of The Wood Elves is the next major addition to the massive strategy game, Total War: Warhammer. It arrives on the 8th December, and brings with it a new race of Wood Elves, alongside new monsters, magic, heroes and other features. This, as well as the main game, are expected to be on sale over December, so don't miss it!
- Planet Coaster
I like to think of my childhood as just one big roller coaster ride. No, not because it was especially exciting, instead because I spent a lot of time playing games from the Roller Coaster Tycoon series. Unfortunately, the theme park sim genre seemed to have died with RCT3, the last decent theme park sim.
But, behold Planet Coaster, the next game to take up the mantle. It was released in November and has properly brought home the genre, giving crazy people like myself, who love to pretend they are managing and building theme parks, something to shout about.
- Watch Dogs 2
Being released just a couple of days ago, we can almost guarantee that this open-world, totally connected game will be featured in the Steam Winter sale. In this game, you play as Marcus Holloway as he explores the beautiful and playful San Fransisco. Like with the first installment, the big twist here is that you get to hack into anything and everything—plus it's actually good this time!
What else do you think should be added to the list?
