2015's visually stunning The Order 1886, wasn't quite the success that many gamers thought it would be - but it was a beautiful concept, and showed the potential that the team at Ready at Dawn Studios was truly capable of.

Although it wasn't the most well received game across the board, it was a huge stepping stone for visual storytelling in video games. When it was announced, it set the bar so high when compared to its contemporaries that it seemed to be in a visual class all of its own. Yet the game didn't quite match our expectations and fell short in a few aspects.

But, that hasn't stopped Ready at Dawn Studios from furthering their craft and continuing on with other endeavors. Currently the studio has Lost Echo a 1st person experience with Oculus Rift coming soon. They are also working on a multiplayer brawler, , which is currently available for PlayStation, Xbox and PC.

Yet it seems as though the studio is actively pursuing a new original IP to launch in the near future.

Sadly, there isn't a whole lot of news about what it could be, but based on the current list of open positions, Ready at Dawn seems to be gearing up for something large. The studio is currently looking for:

  • Lead & Senior Level Designers
  • Character Artists
  • Concept Artists
  • Environmental Artists
  • Backend Network Engineers
  • Gameplay Programmers & Scripters

So What Could Ready At Dawn Be Planning?

In each job listing, the studio states the following:

We are in the pre-production phase of an exciting new AAA third-person action console title, based on a brand new original IP we are creating.

While some of the jobs could be for their current projects, its unlikely that a few aren't for this upcoming project. At first glance, with the studios history and rumors back in 2016 many would have assumed that Ready At Dawn was gearing up for a sequel to The Order: 1886. While that could be the case, it's more likely that the studio is ready to move onto the next phase of expanding their collection of titles.

With the recent rise of other studios like Guerrilla Games with , it's interesting to think about what a studio like Ready At Dawn could bring us after they've already proven their keen sense of visual storytelling. We could find ourselves with a game that raises the bar yet again, and it could also be another exclusive since the studio has committed to looking at HDR support for their next title and their previous work with The Order: 1886 and their God of War games being PlayStation Portable titles, it's likely that this trend could continue.

What do you think Ready At Dawn could be working on?
