Nioh, the long-awaited Samurai action game by Team Ninja, releases on February 7th. The cast is a star-studded line-up of legendary historical figures, including the first black samurai in history, the legendary Shogun Ieyasu Tokugawa and the alchemist Edward Kelley, but did you know it also includes stunning recreations of the real armor worn by the legendary Samurai of the period?

When it comes to their armor, the Samurai Generals spared no expense, their battle-garb was a work of art as much as it was a protective shield. Team Ninja certainly haven't skimped either, with stunning attention to detail on these gorgeous designs in .

The legendary Shogun Ieyasu Tokugawa has had his armor painstakingly recreated, down to the last lacquered plate.

Honda Tadakatsu, a real general of the era, is clad in his signature elk-horn lacquered armor.

Muneshige Tachibana, who duels you in a brutally difficult boss-fight, wears a souped up recreation of his actual armor, complete with elaborate head-piece.

Otani Yoshitsugu, the loyal servant of Mitsunari Ishida may have thrown on a stylish purple overcoat (which matches the blueish purple one he's wearing in historical illustrations), but the rest of his armor is a perfect match for his historical garb.

Li Naomasa, also historically known as "The Red Demon Samurai", has hi signature blood-red armor that he wore into battle to frighten the enemy.
