The original Titanfall blasted its way onto shelves and into gamers' hearts (and wallets) in 2014, wowing us with its unique pilot-Titan gameplay and intense multiplayer action. After its booming success (winning 6 different E3 Critics Rewards!), it's no surprise that Titanfall 2 is hitting hard, fast, and where it hurts only two years later.
Anxious to try out the newest installment of the sci-fi shooter? Wondering which Titan to pick for multiplayer? Wanna find all 46 collectibles? Or maybe you're just looking for a quick way to rise through the ranks, yeah? If so, we've got you covered!

Titanfall? How about Titanrise? Through the ranks, that is! The most effective ways to level up quickly in Titanfall 2
Are your levels coming at you at the speed of a slug? Want some surefire ways to "get rich quick," so to speak? Or perhaps you're just addicted to the totally epic leveling sounds that make you feel as if you've just transcended space and time itself:
No matter the reason for your leveling woes, you'll be back on your feet in no time with these five easy tips.
1. Play During Happy Hour
No, Happy Hour is not a time where you and your Titan can get cheap drinks (though wouldn't that be divine!). Instead, it's an hour during the day where you can receive tons of merits! And since merits are the key to leveling up, this Happy Hour might be even better than its real-life equivalent.
During your average round of multiplayer action, you'll get anywhere between one and three merits. Not awful, by any means, but if you're hoping to level up quickly, you ain't got time for measly numbers like that! Try making yourself a new network (give it a sweet name like "Cuddly Butterlumps"), then set the Happy Hour as your current hour (or upcoming hour, if the clock's about to turn). During Happy Hour, you'll get an extra five merits per round—quite the upgrade! One player even gained as many as ten levels during his first Happy Hour!
2. Switch Between Different Loadouts
One of the sweet things about Titanfall 2 is your ability to switch between loadouts (specific combinations of weapons, abilities, and Titans) to better suit your skills and style of play. Once you've got a set of equipment that really gels with you, you'll find yourself smoking the competition every time! And, in the beginning, this'll be great for your level! But such celerity can only last so long.
As your weapons and Titans rise in level, it'll take more and more merits to keep those ranks comin'. Sure, you might still be winning, but it'll take even more wins and even better play to keep achieving the same results. The solution? Get yourself a few different loadouts you can switch between. Once you've gotten your favorite to a decently high level, try out a new one—you'll be surprised at how easy leveling becomes all of a sudden. In fact, you'll barely even need to try!
3. Find a Play Style That Works for You
Just like in any game, Titanfall 2 requires a bit of, well, skill. Practice makes perfect, as they say. But if you've been playing for a while and don't seem to be getting any better, don't throw your controller at that LG 65" 4K Super UHD Smart LED TV screen! Maybe it's not you. Maybe it's your weapon.
No, I'm not saying your weapon is firing blanks. I'm saying there's a possibility it doesn't suit your playing style! So rather than curse, scream, and stomp about like a small child after losing a match, why not take a look at your pilot's setup? Try a different weapon! Or try a different Titan! Each one requires a different style of play, which means you may have to experiment a bit to find the one that's right for you. Just like careers. And birth control.
4. Eat a Lot of Doritos and Drink a Lot of Mountain Dew
This may seem like a strange tip, but we promise—it works! An on-going promotion between Respawn, Doritos, and Mountain Dew offers you double XP just for buying yourself some midnight snacks!
You can check out all the information at the official site, but for the long and short of it—buy Doritos and Mountain Dew, get the codes, use them to get double XP. You can get other stuff, too, like entries to the Coliseum, as well as chances to win paint jobs and cool finishing moves, but as we're focusing on leveling up in this article, clearly we're all about that double XP! Who knew your munchies could be so helpful?
5. DO WELL
Of course, even with all these tips, you're only going to be able to get so far if you're not improving your skills at the same time. If you're one of those people with incredibly poor eye-hand-coordination, or maybe you've just got the worst luck in the world, you're gonna have to work harder than the average player to level up (and win, for that matter).
Whether you use these tips or not, getting to those top levels is gonna be a bit of a grind! But you've gotta stick it out and use all those hours of play to perfect your trigger finger and play style until you've become the ultimate killing machine.
