Pretty much a fan of all but if you come at me with horror I have a salt shaker and an iron rod and I'm not afraid to use them :D

For some of us, video games have shaped our childhoods and, let's be honest, much of our adult life too. Although many aspects of games are important — character design, gameplay and storyline just to mention a few — one thing we all must appreciate is a good voice actor. It is their job to ensure that the character is both realistic and not cringe-worthy. So, I have compiled list of famous and some not-so-famous video game characters that have been voiced by famous stars and celebrities. How many did you already know?

1. Willa Holland - Aqua (Kingdom Hearts)

Since her debut in 2010, :Birth By Sleep's Aqua quickly rose to become one of the most kickass and memorable characters to emerge from the series. Armed with her trusty keyblade, Aqua really does give the Darkness a run for its money and her unwavering loyalty to her friends would tug at any gamer's heart strings.

Would it be surprising if I told you that this amazing warrior was voiced by a small screen heroine? Most well known for her role of Thea Queen (A.K.A Speedy) in CW's , Willa Holland voices this blue haired Keyblade Master! With her trusty bow and arrow Holland was already a formidable foe in Arrow, but add a keybalde to the mix? Let's just say you wouldn't want to get on her bad side.

2. Kristen Bell - Lucy Stillman (Assassin's Creed)

Think you're seeing double? Well look again, because 's Lucy Stillman was actually designed after her voice actress, Kirsten Bell. Before Bell became a singing sensation as 's Anna, she voiced the genius double agent in the first two Assassin's Creed games as well as Brotherhood. It is almost hard to believe that the same woman that voiced the lovable Anna also voiced the woman that caused the Assasins so much grief.

3. Elijah Wood - Spyro (Spyro the Dragon)

You'd think after travelling across Middle-Earth, Elijah Wood would have had enough of all things mystical. However, although the One Ring found a fiery end, Wood didn't return to The Shire after his adventure. Instead, he returned to another childhood favourite world as none other than everyone's favorite little purple dragon ! Either as Frodo or Spyro, Elijah has proven that size doesn't make the hero but bravery, loyalty and quirky side-comments.

4. Seth Green- Jeff "Joker" Moreau (Mass Effect)

Jeff "Joker" Moreau is one of the best pilots 's Alliance Navy has ever seen, and he isn't afraid to say so. Confident to the point of arrogance, he was voiced by and star Seth Green.

5. Mark Hamill - The Joker (The Arkham Series)

Another Joker makes the list, but this one is surely more notorious. The Joker has terrorized the streets of Gotham, a foe so devious that he's continuously slipping through 's fingers. The most iconic voice actor for this terrifying character is legend Mark Hamill. It's bizarre to think that this man has become synonymous with one of the greatest heroes in the galaxy as well as one of the most insane criminals created. From Arkham Asylum to Arkham Knight, if it's a game or animation involving the Joker it's almost certainly played by Hamill.

6. Liam Neeson - James (Fallout 3)

Schindler's List, Batman Begins, Star Wars, Liam Neeson has starred in them all. He has proved, on countless occasions, that he has the skill to play any role given to him to perfection. Aslan, Qui-Gon Jinn, these are just a few famous characters who Neeson lent his voice to. However, he also voiced the prominent character of James in 3. Identical in stance and behavior, James is the perfect virtual Liam Neeson!

7. Samuel L. Jackson - Officer Frank Tenpenny (GTA: San Andreas)

If he's played the part in the movie there's a high chance Samuel L. Jackson has also voiced the character in the game. Frozone, Nick Fury and Mace Windu wouldn't be the same without Jackson's iconic voice. However, these aren't the only video game roles he's taken on. Jackson also makes a voice appearance in : San Andreas as Officer Frank Tenpenny.

8. Chloe Grace Moretz - Emily Kaldwin (Dishonored)

This young star has played quite the assortment of young characters over the years. However, just because her characters have a tendency of being small that doesn't mean they aren't important. 's Emily Kaldwin is an heiress who has lost her throne, and Moretz really manages to bring the character to life through all the hardships the little empress had to go through.

9. Gary Oldman - Viktor Reznov (Call of Duty: World At War / Black Ops)

has become known for playing wise and inspiring characters. Having played fan favorites such as Commissioner Gordon and Sirius Black fans cannot help but cheer when he makes an appearance, even in the gaming world. Oldman plays the fundamental role of Russian Squad Leader Viktor Reznov in a number of titles, bringing a level of grandiose to the FPS series.

10. Kiefer Sutherland - Big Boss (MGSV: The Phantom Pain)

24 star Kiefer Sutherland returned to the gun slinging world in : The Phantom Pain. Not only did Sutherland give his voice to the iconic mercenary Big Boss, he also lent him his face! So next time you're playing Metal Gear Solid and Big Boss looks strangely familiar, you know why.

From COD to AC, stars litter the gaming world. Armed with guns or fire-breathing dragons these voice actors and actresses manage to make any character's voice unforgettable.

Which character / voice actor combination was your favourite? Are there any others that we missed?
