The world of gaming has evolved a lot over the past 30 years. We've gone from pixelated characters that can only be walked through to a 2D setting to impressive, sprawling 3D worlds that take hours to explore. From consoles with less than 1G of memory capacity, to powerful gaming machines that can withstand anything you throw at them.

With all of those achievements, you might be surprised to hear what we have now in regard to the next step in gaming technology: A Dorito and Mountain Dew-based gaming controller. No, you are not hallucinating, it's actually a thing thanks to one clever gamer with far too much time on his hands.

Twitch user Rudeism created this mind-blowing piece of technological innovation. And he took to Twitch to share it while playing Overwatch, so you can see for yourself:

The video was captioned with:

"I'm literally using Doritos & Mt. Dew to play."

Who would have thought? I have now seen a guy play video games out of Doritos... the more you know.

How the hell did that just happen, you ask? Well, Rudeism soaked Doritos in Mountain Dew and hooked them up to controller inputs. That's the technical side of things, though. How in the world he got the inspiration to do something like that, well, as Rudeism describes himself:

"Welcome! I'm Rudeism, but you can call me Dylan if you like. I'm 26, a game designer by day, and I like to push the boundaries of how we play games. Using obscure controllers, building my own, playing multiple games at once - you name it, I'll give it a shot!

I'm all about that POSITIVE BUZZ, both in my life and in my community. If you're a fan of creative gaming, high chat interaction and a really positive community filled with spectacular people, this is the place!"

So it looks like he's all about creative challenges. If you want to check out more from him and his impressive inventions, follow him on Twitch.

I'm always marveled by the types of things dedicated gamers are able to achieve. We've had people create Millennium Falcons and completely-functional computers in and now this controller. I can't wait to see what other ingenious contraptions gamers will come up with in the future.

What did you think of this new type of controller? What's the craziest fan invention you've seen in the gaming world? Let me know in the comments!
