I dunno about you guys, but after watching this I cannot wait to get a bunch of friends together in order to dismember them by some lake in an idyllic, forested hideaway. Here are the biggest takeaways from beta.

Survive

Now it's your turn to die, if you don't have your way of course. You and the other six counselors have to avoid the wrath of Jason and attempt to escape or end the murderer's reign of terror.

Interacting with your surroundings is timed and results in a meter being activated. This successfully raises the tension due to the milliseconds it adds to completing activities such as opening drawers and windows. Bigger events, like interacting with junction boxes or filling a car with gas, require a longer time and a more steady touch to complete smoothly. Jason could literally be a few steps behind you, and you'd never even know.

Items to prolong your survival are located all over the camp. Whilst searching the cabins, the players can find flares, noise makers, axes, machetes and bear traps.

Teamwork

Communication is key to your survival and players must remain in constant contact with each other as they searched Higgins Haven for a means to escape. In this particular playthrough, the counselors were attempting to mend a broken car in order to escape.

The vehicle needs a new battery, some fresh gas and its keys have been left in a random location within the camp. Players will have to split up if they want to make quick work of finding all the bits needed to get it working and GTFO.

Movement & Combat

Underneath the map icon on the bottom right side of the screen is a red bar that represents your counselor's stamina. Standing still or crouching will naturally replenish your stamina after it depletes from all the running away from death you'll be doing.

Swinging weapons will also drain what looks like a quarter of your stamina at a time, though, as evidenced in the above gif, successfully breaking free from Jason's grip will give you quite the boost. The joys of adrenaline!
