The Boston Majors, one of the biggest Dota 2 tournaments of the year, got off to a roaring start this weekend. With a 3$ million prize pool, the stakes are extremely high, which has already resulted in some big and even tear-jerking plays in the group stages.

I mean, just look at this self-sacrificing play by Zai during Sunday's Evil Geniuses vs. compLexity Gaming matchup:

Anyway, the games will continue tomorrow, and today you're able to place your in-game bets on who's gonna take home that strange eagle-wave-penis trophy and call themselves champions of North American Dota. Successful predictions will net you are fair amount of Battle Points, which can be turned in for sweet skins and loot through the Fall 2016 Battle Pass.

As the first publisher sponsored tournament, The Boston Majors features a single elimination bracket. This means no second chances for losers, which should ensure some all out and urgent play from every team. This is no time for conservatism.

Looking closer at the matchups we — surprise, surprise — predict Chinese domination. Because of how the group stages went the bracket looks a bit lopsided, and with Wings Gaming looking as strong as they were when they won The Internationals three months ago, they'll take care of whatever team comes their way before the finals. Their first matchup against EG is definitely their hardest though.

Wings Gaming just arrived in Boston to kick ass and chew bubblegum. Guess what they're all out of?

In the bottom of the bracket we foresee Newbee trampling over both Ad Finem and both LGD teams. The semifinal against either NP or Digital Chaos will be a close one, but we're pretty sure Sccc's Invoker and KaKa's support play will see them through.

As for which Chinese team will end up winning, let's just say we think that this'll be the year we see a team take home both the Aegis of Champions from The Internationals and a trophy from a major. Be it eagle-wave-penis shaped or not.
