In a wonderful and historic move, for the first time in its 20-year history PokÃÂémon will be getting a release in China, with Sun & Moon being the titles to drag Pikachu & co into new territories.
In an Nintendo Direct from earlier this year, Tsunekazu Ishihara, the CEO of The PokÃÂémon Company, revealed that the game would be being released in 9 languages, including for the first time simplified and traditional Chinese.
This move comes as China, known for its past tough laws on video games, has softened their grip somewhat and allowed foreign gaming imports to enter the market. China originally razed the law back in 2014, but with a catch. Only consoles produced within Shanghai were allowed to be sold.
So that would mean Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo would have to set up HQs there and start manufacturing China-specific goods. But that law saw the Xbox One and PS4 release to middling sales. Maybe PokÃÂémon will fare differently? Who can say.
But this is good news. Now nearly everyone across the globe can absorb the excitement of an impending new PokÃÂé-caper!
