Umm... are you going to drink that Skooma?

With the knowledge that Nintendo is having an immensely scaled down appearance at this year's E3 extravaganza, it's easy to speculate on what this means for the future of the beleaguered legends. And trust me, I've done my fair share of fevered speculation.

Have they given up on 2016? Have they run out of ideas? Or are they pooling together to concentrate heavily on creating an incredible console? All three assumptions are fair to assume, but it doesn't disguise the fact that E3 will be a little bit dulled without the colorful antics of the big N.

But as we know, Nintendo has a veritable celebrity who's who list of characters and IPs to drag kicking and screaming into the days of 4K/60fps gaming. But which properties should they perhaps use?

Here are my ten cents:

Nintendo At E3: What I Would Love To See

If Nintendo chose to display their mysterious new console, or at least one component of the rumored Voltron-esque tech, at E3, I couldn't tell you how exciting that would've been for the industry and this ol' fan boy right here.

With rumors of the PS Neo and Xbox One Point Two having their grand entrances at the expo heating up, that would have been a brave and bold move on the legends' part to take Sony and Microsoft on in the battle for the summer.

New 3DS

New 3DS colors

Even if they didn't decide to reveal the NX, which is actually a pretty fair move, an announcement of new colors and shells for the New 3DS could have been pretty great too. Imagine we got release dates for that beautiful SNES/Super Famicom themed 3DS? Or the even newer two tone variants.

Mobile Games

With Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem heading to smartphones and tablets pretty soon, perhaps Nintendo could have used the time to show the games in action? And maybe tease or offer a glimpse at a few other new titles they're tinkering away on.

But since Nintendo are making such an concentrated effort with mobile titles, could we see more meaty titles in the future? Things like:

Mario Runner Maker

An infinite runner tool where you create your own side-scrolling, infinite runner levels to stress Mario and a legion of other famous Nintendo characters in.

Pokémon Center

Create your very own character to assist Nurse Joy in the rehabilitation of injured Pokémon. Different ailments will require different skills and some fun manipulations of your mobile device.

How good is your bedside manner? If a Pokémon enjoys the time spent in your caring company, they might even decide to join you on your journey from town to town when you transfer the game's saved data into Sun & Moon. How cool would that be?

F-Zero Wii U/NX

F-Zero GX
F-Zero GX

I've been saying for ages now just how amazing it would be to have a new F-Zero title out in the wild, but there doesn't seem to be much scope for it on Ninty's side. But with Mario Kart 8 being such an astonishing racing game and award winner, we all know that they have an great F-Zero in them. And imagine the speed of the game if it were to release on the NX.

Mario Maker

Super Mario Maker
Super Mario Maker

The Mario stage making tool keeps on going from strength to strength, but what if they expanded on that somewhat by allowing you to create levels in the style of other classic Nintendo IP? Create your very own dungeon in the style of Zelda, or create an isometric, Bomberman-esqe grid for some Splatoon fun! Or even some Super Mario 64 styled 3D madness!

That would be so awesome.

Those were just a few of my ideas. Nintendo has an infinity pool of great IPs to work through, and they're going to need every one of them firing on all cylinders come 2017.

Hopefully they're already stuffing the muskets, huh?

What do you think?

What would you love to see from Nintendo?
