*Spoilers Ahead Mateys!* - Henry Avery
After destroying lost cities, letting supernatural creatures run rampant and never really making a financial profit from treasure hunting, it's a wonder that our very own "Dude Raider" made a career from killing people en masse and scavenging the odd bronze coin.
But Uncharted is a beloved franchise and one of my personal favourites of all time! And the fact that the fourth instalment in the series is the last outing for the cocky fortune hunter really quite upsets me. Although there is always a possibility, as Creative Director Neil Druckmann put it:
Can we tell people a story that's really worth telling, and that's not repeating itself?
This statement was really in the context of a The Last of Us sequel in 2014 but I believe that this statement rings true for the team's creative process as a whole. And we can expect more projects, spin offs or sequels if the story is just right. Here are a couple which I think would complement the Uncharted series nicely without diluting it.
Prequel With Sully?
A game starring Victor Sullivan himself would be truly awesome. He has been one of my favourite characters in the games and I would love to see his younger days explored. He always mentions to Drake how he's "done this all be before" and such other cliches of experience to demonstrate his wealth of knowledge in the thieving business.
Now, how cool would it be to see one of those past adventures?
Taking place after his service with the Navy, it could be expanded upon why he took up as a freelance thief, perhaps some traumatic personal drama that could lead to an awesome story set up and dialogue? *wink wink*. Also the game could explore the relationship between Sully and Marlowe and how that came to be, so there is a romantic subplot already there! The shift in time period would allow for a variety of new weapons, vehicles, locations and would definitely be a story worth telling!
For those who made it to the Epilogue of A Thief's End, players were greeted with Nate and Elena's daughter Cassie. It is made evident that she has a keen interest in treasure hunting and history that her parents possessed and this would make for a good continuation of the Uncharted universe.
Taking a note from the recent reboot of the Tomb Raider series, the next instalment could have Cassie as a young adult who is seeking the next lost city, cursed treasure or legendary artefact. Even her adorable canine could be implemented into gameplay by sniffing out treasures or acting as an option for a melee mechanic.
This segment of the game could have been put in purely for fan service but I personally believe that there is a bigger story to be told here, or I just can't get over the end of the series...
Let me know what all of you think and if you have any ideas of your own!
