I don't know about you guys, but I've been getting the Pokemon fever with the Pokemon Sun and Moon starters and our new region for the seventh generation of Pokemon (which is confirmed to be heavily influenced by Hawaiian culture) being revealed just a few weeks ago. Just this morning, the Pokemon Company released a brand-double-slappin'-new trailer for Sun and Moon that you definitely don't want to miss:

We first get new details on the new legendary Pokemon for the Alola Region.

The mascot for Pokemon Sun is named Solgaleo, and is confirmed to be a Psychic / Steel type. It's sort of strange that he doesn't get to be a Fire type since he is repping the sun. Solgaleo also gets a new ability, Full Metal Body. From the video, it seems that it prevents other Pokemon's abilities and moves from reducing Solgaleo's stats. Solgaleo's signature move is Sunsteel Strike.

Lunala, the mascot for Pokemon Moon, receives the Psychic / Ghost typing. Its signature move is Moongeist Beam, and is super effective against Gengar (Ghost /Poison), so it could either be a Ghost, Psychic, or Dark type move. Lunala's new ability, Shadow Shield, was not shown off in the trailer, but the official Pokemon website shared the details:

"Lunala’s Ability is Shadow Shield, a new Ability that no previous Pokémon has had. With the Shadow Shield Ability, a Pokémon will take less damage from an attack that lands when the Pokémon has full HP."

"Welcome to the Alola Region!"

Looks like the Alola Region is more than just that little island that we saw before! Just like Hawaii, the Alola Region is a series of islands. I wonder what kind of Pokemon we can encounter here?

When you start your journey, on top of being able to choose your gender, you'll also be able to choose between four different skin tone variations. It's nice to see the diversity being poured into this game.

It's also confirmed that the (nearly shirtless) Professor's name is Professor Kukui, and he seems to have a mysterious(ly pale) assistant named Lillie. Someone doesn't see much sun in the Alola Region! Finally, your best friend (who will probably double-up as your rival in the games) is named Hau.

The new Pokedex is possessed by a Rotom!

Wait, what?

In this generation of Pokemon, your Pokedex is a Pokemon. No one saw that coming!

"A whole new way for people and Pokemon to communicate, woo!"

"Woo!" is right!

Pokemon Sun and Moon will be available in North America on November 18th.

Who's excited? I'm eager to see what new Pokemon we will be encounter in this new installment- especially the evolutions to Rowlet, Litten, and Popplio! Even though we just received a plethora of information on the new games, we're still left with tons of questions. What do you guys think the purpose of this new Rotom Pokedex is? What will it do? Can you battle with it? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
