Believe it or not, E3 2016 is just around the corner. With just under a week to go until the big show, gamers everywhere are eagerly anticipating announcements and news regarding both upcoming and unannounced projects from the various press conferences. Square Enix's will have a heavy presence at this year’s show, as they've confirmed many titles to be at E3 in some capacity. One of the titles that will be playable on the show floor will be the newly announced Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age. This announcement begs the question: If Square already announced Final Fantasy XII Remaster before E3, what do they have in store for us during E3?

In terms of games that Square has confirmed to be at E3, there’s no doubt that we’ll see more of Final Fantasy XV during a press conference. Additionally, expect quick looks at Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, I am Setsuna and Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness to serve as reminders of their upcoming summer releases.

There’s a lot to look forward to for Square Enix, so let's get right into what we think might happen.

More Final Fantasy VII Remake Footage

We last got a taste of Final Fantasy 7 Remake at last year’s PlayStation Experience, where they showed off new gameplay footage for the game. It feels like the right time to either show off new footage or give an update on the games development. A release window at this point is extremely wishful thinking, but a fan can dream, right?

What’s the Deal with Kingdom Hearts 3?

Please, Square Enix, show us more Kingdom Hearts 3! Since its reveal at E3 2013, Square has been pretty quiet about Kingdom Hearts 3, mostly because it has been focusing on finishing Final Fantasy XV for its September 30th release date. As we get closer to that release date, now seems like a good time for Square to shed some light on Sora and the gang. At best you might see a release window for the title. At worst, new gameplay footage. Regardless, Square has to show us more Kingdom Hearts 3.

Speaking of Kingdom Hearts, a new Trailer and Release Date for Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue Makes Sense

I have a good feeling that Square will give us a new trailer featuring a release date for Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue. Why do I feel this way? KH fans need something to hold them over until Kingdom Hearts 3, which they’ve been waiting for - and will continue to wait for - for a long time.

NieR: Automata Release Date

You can pretty much count on something to be shown of NieR: Automata during E3. This is a game that has somewhat flown under the radar since its announcement in 2015. NieR: Automata is under development by action veterans Platinum Games, and is scheduled to be released at some point in 2016. However, NieR: Automata seems like a candidate for a delay into the early part of 2017 for three reasons:

First, Square has Final Fantasy XV, the PS4 version of Rise of the Tomb Raider and World of Final Fantasy (among several others) on schedule to release during the rest of 2016. Second, Square and Platinum have been relatively quiet on this project, leading to speculation that we could see a delay. Lastly, with Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Kingdom Hearts 3 veering towards the latter half of next year, NieR: Automata seems like a good fit to occupy the late-winter or early-spring release slots of 2017.

New Trailer and Release Date for World of Final Fantasy

Square is all about Final Fantasy right now and they need another title to occupy some time in the fall. World of Final Fantasy may not be a blockbuster title, but it fills a niche for Final Fantasy fans, as well as PS4 and Vita owners.

Dragon Quest Updates

Whether it's Dragon Quest VII and Dragon Quest VIII coming to the 3DS, or the development of the long-awaited Dragon Quest XI, there's a lot going on with the Dragon Quest franchise right now. It'd be nice to see some release dates, however, therefore it's logical to think that Square at least gives us an idea of when we can expect to play Dragon Quest VII and VII on our 3DS's. At this point, all we know is that they're both planned to release at some point in 2016.

New Title Announcement(s)

As is usually the case for E3, you can be sure to expect at least one or two new project announcements. Due to the fact that Square has so many big projects with their most well-known IP on the go right now, it’s hard to speculate what these big announcements will be.

Could they officially announce the codenamed "Final Fantasy Type-Next"? Maybe a new IP enters the fray? Whatever it is, the anticipation of new projects is one of E3's greatest joys. Hopes are high that Square can give us at least one.
