The votes are in for the world's first Pokémon election and, out of 720 different species of Pokémon competing, one winner has been crowned the fan favorite. Long time trainers, however, might be surprised by the result as franchise stalwart Pikachu didn't even make the top three.

Winner of the Pokémon election: Greninja!
Oricon Style reported that a total of 562,386 votes were cast, with 36,235 of them going to the winner.
Greninja will become available as a free download when the Pokémon XY&Z movie comes to cinemas this summer. To take advantage of this prize, you'll need a 3DS and a copy of Pokemon X, Y, Omega Ruby, or Alpha Sapphire.
