Injustice 2, the sequel to the hit video game Injustice: Gods Among Us, developed by NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, is due to release sometime in 2017. Unfortunately, aside from an official confirmation a year ago that the sequel was in development, fans had been forced to wait and see what was coming.

That wait ended last week with the first official trailer for the game — officially titled Injustice 2 — which revealed the addition of Supergirl. You can watch it below:

Unfortunately, aside from the reveal trailer, not much information about the video game sequel had been available... until now.

A new gameplay trailer for Injustice 2 was revealed on Saturday through NetherRealm Studios' Twitch channel. The footage showcases new super moves, suits, and characters like Atrocitus, Supergirl, Gorilla Grodd, and Black Manta! Check it out:

As is common with most video games, the in-game graphics are of a much lower quality than what was shown in the reveal trailer.

Regarding the process behind choosing new characters for the game, director Ed Boon said this:

“A lot of factors. [We pick] the characters teams are excited about, and we’re always listening to social media on characters they want to see. And also DC is involved, it’s a collaboration of players and DC.”

Boon revealed that Injustice 2 will have a bigger roster of characters than its predecessor, including "a lot of new faces." According to him, more will be revealed at E3 next week.

Could those new faces about to be revealed include Ra's al Ghul's?

What do you think? Did the gameplay trailer get you more excited for Injustice 2?
