Before the rise of video game developers like Bethesda, EA, and Ubisoft, there was Rare. The classic video game developer previously known as Rareware was the talk of the town in the 80's and 90's. Everyone wanted a piece of the Rare pie, from Nintendo to Sega, to Microsoft!
But one day, Rare just...died. Taken from the world at the top of its game, despite amazing games like Conkers Bad Fur Day, Battletoads, and Banjo and Kazooie. Rare tried to make comebacks, to revive its old properties, and even make some new IP's, but it didn't work. Rare was gone, and it didn't seem like it would ever come back. Cue this year's epic Xbox E3 conference, and Rare's epic new IP; Sea of Thieves!
Sea of Thieves is the newest game from Rare, and their first new IP in a long time (not including Kinect Rivals). Coming exclusively to the Xbox One and PC, Sea of Thieves is an action-adventure game that brings gamers to the coolest age of all; the Age of the Pirate!
Sea of Thieves is coming out sometime this year, and even though it's a relatively small title, fans have several reasons to get excited about it.
A Return From Rare
Like I said, this is the newest game from Rare in a long time. Even better, it's a new IP! Fans of Rare know all too well that Rare is at their best when they develop new properties.
Some of Rare's best games have been new IP's, like Conker and Banjo and Kazooie. Sea of Thieves will likely be just as great as those games, especially if it's got a wacky and incredible story, as is common with Rare games!
The Online Co-Op!
Pirate games are fun, it's a known fact. What's more fun than getting a ship and traversing across the seven seas as a swashbuckling pirate? Getting a ship and traversing across the seven seas with all of your friends, that's what!
Sea of Thieves will feature online Co-Op, introducing gamers to a kind of pirate game that they've never seen before. It's more than just grabbing a couple of friends and engaging in pirate battles (though there is that option), Sea of Thieves allows you have the entire pirate experience with your friends!
All you have to do is get online, enlist your friends as part of your crew, and sail the seven seas together. You'll be swashbuckling, drinking rum, and plundering with your pals in no time! Sea of Thieves looks like it's going to be the game that finally returns Rare to its former glory. Who know? Maybe if this game, and Yooka-Laylee do well, we'll finally see Banjo Threeie! One can only dream...
