Comic and video game fans everywhere did a collective backflip when a teaser was released for Injustice: Gods Among Us 2 this past week. Speculation about the character list, release date, game features has run rampant. I am an unabashed fan of the original game, but even I will admit it was not perfect. Since we theoretically have some time before the game is released, here are NUMBER tweaks they can make to make Injustice Gods Among Us 2 an instant classic.
Create a Hero/Villain
DC Comics has a plethora of character to make playable in the game. That said, it would really open things up if you could actually create an original hero or villain and pit them against the likes of Superman or Gorilla Grodd. DC has shown in the past that they can manage to put together a creation suite (albeit their first attempt in DC Online wasn’t exactly anything to write home about, but it was a start), so why not apply that to Injustice 2? Having robust options for outfits and powers could really give this game another dimension. Adding another story mode specifically for your created hero/villain would be ideal as well.
Tag Team Mode
Who doesn’t love a superhero or villain team up? DC should take a page out of the Marvel vs Capcom playbook; give players the option of going three-on-three. Select a team of three and battle it out, the last team standing wins. Having tandem super moves would be interesting as well. If this was available as a versus mode for local and online play it would increase the games replay value exponentially.
Actual Fatalities/Finishing moves
Having actually fatalities in this game would be great, but since this is a DC property that isn’t going to happen. That doesn’t mean they can’t implement finishing moves. A finishing move is the equivalent of a Fatality, but not as gory/bloody. These would not take the place of the special/ultimate moves, but it would be a spectacular way to finish matches. For example, when your opponent is out of energy, Superman could punch them into the sun, or something along those lines. They could also implement stage finishers as well, much like they have in the Mortal Kombat series.
