We saw a ton of games at E3 this year... but when do we actually get to play them? You may be surprised at how many of the titles we saw at the show are just around the corner (though, some are still disappointingly far away). While this list isn't exhaustive — there were simply too many games at E3 to list all of them! — these are the ones we're most excited about.

Coming in July 2016

'We Happy Few' (Steam Early Access, Xbox Preview)

Why should I be excited? Seemingly half 1984 and half BioShock, this strange psychological thriller isn't your run-of-the-mill FPS.

Coming in August 2016

'No Man's Sky'

Why should I be excited? We've been seeing teasers for the open-world space exploration game No Man's Sky since E3 2014, and the hype has only built since. Though the game's release was recently pushed back, we'll finally be able to play it in August.

Release date: 9th

Why should I be excited? We've never seen a game quite like Bound, a platformer with a geometric style in which the protagonist gracefully dances her way through the world.

Why should I be excited? Maybe it's just me, but I plan to use this dark, cyberpunk thrill-ride to fill the Mass Effect-shaped hole in my gaming schedule.

Coming in September 2016

'ReCore' (Xbox exclusive)

Why should I be excited? Considering how close we are to its release date, it's surprising how little we've seen of ReCore. Still, this desert-based action-adventure wherein you fight alongside robotic companions looks like a blast.

Release date: 13th

Trailer

'Forza Horizon 3' (Xbox exclusive)

Why should I be excited? With 350 cars to choose from and an open world twice the size of Forza Horizon 2's, this is a must-have for racing enthusiasts. I'm not one of them, so I can only say that the latest Forza looks absolutely gorgeous.

Release date: 27th

Trailer

'Final Fantasy XV'

Why should I be excited? Do I even have to explain this one? It's new Final Fantasy! The latest installment has a somewhat darker tone than previous games, but you'll be glad to hear that there are still Chocobo.

Release date: 30th

Trailer

Coming in October 2016

'Mafia 3'

Why should I be excited? The trailer for Mafia 3 plays like a Hollywood action blockbuster — and I, for one, can't wait to get my hands on it it.

'Civilization VI'

Why should I be excited? You shouldn't be. This time-devouring game series is a health hazard. Avoid if you value your free time.

Release date: 21st

Trailer

'The Last Guardian' (PlayStation exclusive)

Why should I be excited? Admit it: Adorable animals sell games. The Last Guardian's cat/bird hybrid reminds us of a household pet, and acts like one, too, as the player has to coax it through the game's massive castle complex.

Release date: 25th

Trailer

'FIFA 17'

Why should I be excited? Did FIFA need a single-player story mode? I'm not sure, but I'm interested in checking it out anyway.

Release date: 27th

Trailer

'Titanfall 2'

Why should I be excited? Titanfall created such an amazing world that it seemed a shame not to have a single-player mode that delved into the game's story. Fortunately, Titanfall 2 will fill that gap.

Release date: 28th

Trailer

'The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim — Special Edition'

Why should I be excited? I hate dropping money on updated versions of games I already own and have played to death. But I have to say that this revamped version of Skyrim looks incredible, and I'm going to have to buy it anyway.

'Watch Dogs 2'

Why should I be excited? While I suspect the life of the everyday hacker isn't quite as thrilling as Watch Dogs makes it seem, this sequel combines the high-tech mayhem of the original with all the weirdness of the original. What's not to love?

Why should I be excited? South Park fans get more of their favorites in this superhero-themed sequel... and for those who are over the whole South Park thing, well, there are plenty of other games coming this holiday season.

Release date: 6th

Trailer

'Steep'

Why should I be excited? Admittedly, I wonder how long this multiplayer extreme sports game would hold my interest. The settings are beautiful, the action looks fast and fun, and the open world leaves plenty of places to explore... but just how long can you really play a game that's all skiing, snowboarding, paragliding, and wingsuit flying? I wonder — and then I remember how many hours I dumped into the SSX series and think maybe this is a great idea after all.

Release date: December (exact date unknown)

Trailer

Coming sometime in 2016

'The Walking Dead: Season Three'

Why should I be excited? Batman isn't the only thing Telltale's working on, because the third installment of their Walking Dead series is due out this year, too. We still don't know exactly what will be happening this season, but we do know we'll meet Clementine again.

Trailer

'The Unspoken' (Oculus Rift exclusive)

Why should I be excited? VR magic battles? Hurling fireballs with a wave of your hand? This is the video game that fantasy fans have always wanted.

'Gwent'

Why should I be excited? If you've spent hours of your life playing Witcher's in-world card game Gwent, this is exactly the game you've been waiting for.

Trailer

Cuphead (Xbox exclusive)

Why should I be excited? This zany platformer has a 1930s animation style, which has a unique (and non-pixelated) retro appeal.

Trailer

'Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin' (PlayStation VR exclusive)

Why should I be excited? If you've been waiting for more Psychonauts since the original game came out in 2005, here you go. If you want a non-VR version, however, there's longer to wait: Psychonauts 2 is due out in 2018.

Trailer

Not enough for you? If you have the patience to wait, there are a lot of great games lined up for a 2017 release. Here's the cream of the crop:

Coming in January 2017

'Resident Evil 7: Biohazard'

Why should I be excited? The trailer for Biohazard looks absolutely terrifying... and for PlayStation gamers, it will support PlayStation VR. Is the world ready for survival horror VR yet? Because I'm not sure I am.

Release date: 24th

Trailer

Coming in February 2017

'For Honor'

Why should I be excited? This bizarre historical mish-mash features knights, samurai, and Vikings battling it out in a medieval setting. And before you ask why, consider this: Does there really need to be a reason?

Halo Wars 2 (Xbox exclusive)

Why should I be excited? A Halo RTS? Yes, a Halo RTS.

Release date: 17th

Trailer

'Persona 5' (PlayStation exclusive)

Why should I be excited? Though it has a 2016 release date in Japan, this anime-styled RPG won't be hitting the states until next year. Sorry, Persona fans.

Release date: 17th

Trailer

'Horizon Zero Dawn' (PlayStation exclusive)

Why should I be excited? There's no other game where you can fight robot dinosaurs with a bow and arrows — which is a roundabout way of saying I can't wait to try this unique RPG.

Release date: 28th

Trailer

'Sea of Thieves' (Xbox exclusive)

Why should I be excited? This open-world pirate game features sea combat and multiplayer... and while it reminds me a lot of the 2008 MMORPG Pirates of the Burning Sea, you really can't have too many pirate games.

Trailer

Coming in March 2017

'Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands'

Why should I be excited? Ubisoft claims this is the biggest open-world game it's ever made. While "open world" sometimes seems like a code for "huge, empty, boring spaces to trek through," this trailer makes the game's massive terrain an integral and even exciting part of gameplay.

Release date: 7th

Trailer

Coming...Sometime in 2017

'Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wilds' (Nintendo exclusive)

Why should I be excited? New Zelda, new Zelda, new Zelda.

Trailer

'God of War' (PlayStation exclusive)

Why should I be excited? This isn't the God of War series you knew: Now we follow Kratos as he mentors his son in a world of Norse — rather than Greek — mythology.

Trailer

'Mass Effect: Andromeda'

Why should I be excited? We don't know much about the game other than the fact that it takes place in the far-off galaxy of Andromeda — and this year's E3 trailer didn't add much to that knowledge. Still, it hasn't prevented BioWare fans from eagerly awaiting the next chapter of Mass Effect.

Trailer

'Prey'

Why should I be excited? Though it was only announced at Bethesda's E3 press conference, we should have a chance to play Prey next year. And while we don't know much — other than it's a re-imagining of 2006's Prey — the trailer has my interest piqued.

Trailer

'State of Decay 2' (Xbox exclusive)

Why should I be excited? This sequel is going to be a multiplayer zombie survival game. Enough said.

Trailer

Now it's your turn: which of E3's titles, large or small, has you wringing your hands while you wait for release day?
