For all of you Harry Potter-heads out there, J.K. Rowling just revealed tons of information about the North American school of witchcraft and wizardry- Ilvermorny. Being the "western version" of Hogwarts, Ilvermorny has four houses that you can be sorted into depending on various traits about yourself: Thunderbird, Horned Serpent, Wampus, and Pukwudgie.

Here's a brief run-down on each of these new houses:

Thunderbird house is sometimes considered to represent the soul of a witch or wizard. It is also said that Thunderbird favours adventurers.
Horned Serpent house is sometimes considered to represent the mind of a witch or wizard. It is also said that Horned Serpent favours scholars.
Wampus house is sometimes considered to represent the body of a witch or wizard. It is also said that Wampus favours warriors.
Pukwudgie house is sometimes considered to represent the heart of a witch or wizard. It is also said that Pukwudgie favours healers.

To sum it up, I believe that, unlike Hogwarts (which sorts based on your personality traits that you deem important), Ilvermorny houses are divided based on the way you seek out answers through life: intuition (Thunderbird), wit (Horned Serpent), passion (Pukwudgie), and impulsion (Wampus).

I've been on a trend of mashing up random franchises with video games, so I thought it would be fun to play the role of the sorting hat, and sort various characters from the gaming realm into Ilvermorny houses. Please note that some of these may have some minor spoilers.

Well, here goes nothing!

1. Nathan Drake (Uncharted)- Thunderbird

Nathan Drake is an explorer who's gone on several missions just to find out if he's related to Francis Drake, a famous explorer. Throughout his expeditions, he relies heavily on intuition (which we often mistaken for luck) to pull through tough situations. Nathan Drake is totally a Thunderbird.

2. Mario (Super Mario Bros.)- Pukwudgie

Mario is the born hero of the Mushroom Kingdom, rescuing Princess Peach since 1986. Mario continuously overcomes the impossible- even as a short, stubby plumber, he manages to overthrow Bowser on a number of occasions because of his love for Princess Peach. If that doesn't scream Pukwudgie, I don't know what does!

3. GLaDOS (Portal)- Horned Serpent

GLaDOS is one of those characters where you either love 'em or you hate 'em. GLaDOS does a great job making sure you, the player, feel as stupid as possible with her witty one-liners, even when you're the one who ends up outsmarting her. She relies heavily on her wit, because, well, she's a computer. What else could she do? Horned Serpent it is!

4. Leon Kennedy (Resident Evil) - Wampus

Leon is famous for being a zombie-killin' machine. He's been handpicked quite a few times to lead teams in... zombie killin'. Because of this, Leon often finds himself in situations where he has to quickly make decisions to survive. Therefore, impulsion is Leon's closest friend. Looks like he's a Wampus!

5. Solid Snake (Metal Gear Solid) - Horned Serpent

Snake is a renowned war hero who has basically single-handedly prevented numerous nuclear catastrophes. This guy has an IQ of 180- and if this is any indicator of how smart he is, the average person's IQ is 100 and Albert Einstein's was 160. Solid Snake is the ultimate Horned Serpant, y'all.

6. Tracer (Overwatch) - Wampus

Tracer is an offensive character from the new hit video game, Overwatch. This girl's got some spunk, and, on top of that, she's got a very unique power- the ability to "blink" around her opponents. Being an offensive character, her impulsiveness to run in and slay usually carries her to victory. Cheers, love, the Wampus is here!

7. Banjo (Banjo-Kazooie) - Thunderbird

Banjo's been through some major changes when Rare was bought by Microsoft, but one major thing about Banjo that remained the same was his sense of adventure. Banjo's travelled across vast lands with different environments, and is always prepared to crack puzzles with his the use of his intuition (a.k.a. Kazooie's bickering). Banjo's a pretty solid Thunderbird!

8. Ryu (Street Fighter) - Wampus

Ryu is one of the 91 characters across the Street Fighter franchise that's appeared in every single game. This guy's pretty beefy and must think quickly when fighting. Due to this, Ryu's victories are lead by his impulsiveness when reading his opponent. Besides, look at those muscles. He is so a Wampus.

9. Faith Connors (Mirror's Edge) - Horned Serpent

Faith, being a Runner, is tasked with a very unique job- to transport private information. Being trained in parkour, part of her job is to outsmart her enemies in sticky situations and lose them. If that's not a test of the wit, then I don't know what is. She's a pretty wicked Horned Serpent, but borderline Wampus.

10. Sonic (Sonic the Hedgehog) - Pukwudgie

This high-speed rodent's got a lot of sass, but when it comes to his friends, he's got a heart of gold. Sonic values his friendships above all else, and puts trust in his friends when he needs their help- especially with Tails. Also, he's a hedgehog. Pukwudgies are troll-ish hedgehogs. That's a good reason, right?

11. Samus Aran (Metroid) - Wampus

Samus is a badass. That's all I have to say about that. Many argue that her portrayal in Metroid: Other M was a ding in her character, but I honestly love the development they gave her. She has her own opinions and is reluctant to obey orders from General Adam Malkovich. Her impulsion leads her into her life as a bounty hunter. I think that she's the most accurate Wampus on this list, hands down.

12. Ellie (The Last of Us) - Pukwudgie

Although Ellie is foul-mouthed, temperamental, and your average 14-year-old girl with a 'tude, she still manages to scoop up some compassion from somewhere deep down. It's really difficult for her to show it, as her independence usually takes over. Due to her time in an orphanage, she's learned to raise herself and is wise beyond her years, giving her the ability to be more caring that most teenagers are. Puk. Wudgie.

13. Cloud Strife (Final Fantasy VII) - Pukwudgie

Cloud is shrouded in his own guilt to the point where it's almost annoying. His devotion to protecting his friends is amplified when he fails to do so. We specifically see this with the fall of Aeris. Okay, come on, if you didn't know that already, then you're over a decade behind. Also, Dumbledore dies.

Anyways, Cloud's undivided fidelity to his friends is pretty unmatchable, and I'd say he's got a puck in his wedgie- err- He's a Pukwudgie.

14. Lara Croft (Tomb Raider) - Thunderbird

Lara is an archeologist with a huge sense of adventure; she travels across the world to explore ruins and temples. She bares many similarities to Nathan Drake, and as intuition guides her through her adventures. thunder, Thunder, THUNDERBIRD HOOOOOOO!

15. Kratos (God of War) - Wampus

This guy is a merciless beast. He literally kills anyone or anything that gets in his way. Being the God of War, he doesn't really give a damn about anything. His impulsion to kill is what drives his story. He's a warrior, and Wampus favors warriors! Pretty big no-brainer here.

Phew! That was exhausting.

If you haven't been sorted yet, do yourself a favor and do it now! Personally, I'm Thunderbird, even though my Hogwarts house is Ravenclaw. Would you sort any of these characters differently? What's your Ilvermorny house? Feel free to sort other video game characters in the comments below!
