Even though it's been twenty years since it's debut, the Nintendo 64 is still pretty popular among gamers.
The N64 had some very fun and exciting games on it's lineup, including Smash Bros., Super Mario 64, Starfox 64, and Mario Kart. Despite being one of the many proud of a 64 that still works, mine was handed down to me from a family member, and that does happen to a lot of people who probably have one now.
One game I do remember playing in my early days was Conker's Bad Fur Day, imagine being six years old and playing a game made for someone who is 17+, that was the one kicker about video game stores years ago, before the age of Gamestop, there was Blockbuster, and Hollywood Video.
Anyways, So why is the N64 still so popular among gamers? One reason could be that some games that were so popular in the 1990's were on the Nintendo 64. Another reason, I think, was the versatility of the console itself.
Game systems nowadays break so easily, that could be the kiss of death for those who are hardcore gamers, and don't want their playtime interrupted.
I remember dropping a pair of shoes on my 64 and it still works, It gives meaning to the internet meme "Oh you dropped a tv on me? No problem, bro, I still work."
So those who still have an N64 like me, Treat your N64 with respect, and play it as much as you want. Love your N64, that's why Satoru Iwata gave it to us.
RIP Satoru Iwata,
thank you, Mr. Iwata for everything you gave us, including the N64.
