This week, we release an animation based on Devolver Digital's "Enter The Gungeon".
We decided to explore the lives of the enemies before the heroes arrived. Maybe they were living nice lives, with their friends, family and cat, before the "hero" jumps in searching for a legendary gun and immediately starts shredding bullets their way.
Even when the hero has been stopped, in a "groundhog day-esque" style, we relive each re-spawn, while they shoot, destroy and flip tables through the universe.
Then something clicks, and the good guys have to become the bad guys to survive this plague of heroes wrecking everything they have worked for.
Why did Bowser keep stealing Princess Peach? Did Mario and the Mushroom Kingdom keep getting on his nerves? Destroying his homeland, killing the Koopas and having a general disregard to racing Go Karts through the countryside.
Why did Dr. Neo Cortex really need all the crystals? Maybe he was building some sort of renewable energy source for the world, but Crash kept stealing them, to be sold into the black market for Wumpa Fruit? Then he decides to use the remaining crystals to make a ray gun to kill Crash, for ruining the future of the world because of his Wumpa Fruit addiction.
And maybe the Dragon in Elder Scrolls: Skyrim were really just trying to resolve that small problem of being extinct. After all the other races destroyed their entire species (well... nearly) and they finally worked out a way to reverse history. But unfortunately being dragons, when they decide to speak or hold conversation, they maybe accidentally destroy more things that aren't other dragons. Alduin probably just came over to the village at the start to try and make friends, but everyone started shooting at hi, and one thing led to another and well... you know...
