Pokémon GO is now live. This augmented reality Pokémon game is the first of its kind and is already proving to be a resounding success. Trainers in their masses are taking to the streets in search of their favourite Pokémon. This latest Pokémon game really is a gaming first. Can you catch ‘em all?

If you have already downloaded it you will know that an integral part of the game is training. Once you have caught your Pokémon you must then train said Pokémon (kind of the whole idea of Pokémon). This training, however, can only be done at designated Pokémon gyms. But where are these gyms I hear you ask?

Fortunately for you there is a map that pinpoints all the known Pokémon gyms. This map has been built by the community and shows the location to Pokémon gyms all over the world. There are still many more gyms to be found, so if you find one, do please add it to the map.

Where is the closest gym to me? Take a look.

How do gym battles work?

To begin with, you must be at least level 5 to take part in gym battles. They work just the same as the pokestops, simply approach the gym and the in game algorithm will take over when you get close enough.

These matches are not turn based; it is a battle of skill and cunning. Players must button bash and side swipe to defeat the opponent. For detailed tips on how to be victorious in gym battles take a look at our essential Pokémon GO tips page.
