Ever since the last hit in the series, Left 4 Dead 2, fans have been praying to the Flying Spaghetti Monster and back for the release of a third installment. There was nothing more fun than blowing a zombie clown's head off while screaming in terror. Please say that it wasn't just me. I'm not afraid of clowns; you're afraid of clowns! Well anyways, rejoice because all of your pasta-flavored worship rituals have been answered! I have a lot of delicious marinara sauce to reward you with. (Don't worry, I'm done with the pasta jokes.)
So, when is it releasing?
There is, honestly, a lot of spotty information about the release date of Left 4 Dead 3, so there's not an exact date yet. Honestly, this is nothing new when it comes to the video game world, but what we do know is that they are potentially aiming to release Left 4 Dead 3 in 2017. If they don't do that, then we will likely have to wait until the 2017 E3 event to find out exactly when this potential masterpiece will come out.
Here's what we know so far.
So, what exactly are we looking at so far? Well, a whole lot of speculation, but what I have learned is that some leaks showed that some Left 4 Dead 2 levels were remade using Source 2. Another aspect is the fact that Half-Life 3 has gotten delayed even further, though that is speculation as well. Some fans and previous Valve employees say that they are focusing all of their attention on Left 4 Dead 3 at the moment while setting Gordan Freeman from the Half-Life series down for a little while. Another awesome source would be from Gamespot, who told us about a pretty big concept artist from Valve, Tristen, who supposedly caused this massive leak. He was in the midst of a tutorial when viewers saw that there was a folder called Left 4 Dead 3 on his desktop. He ended up deleting or renaming the folder as soon as people started asking about it and it was left at that! If that isn't suspicious, I don't know what is!
There are some potential problems, though.
One problem that we have at the moment is that Turtle Rock Studios' partnership with Valve has ended, which means that Valve will have to work on it strictly alone. That could certainly prove to be a challenge to make that 2017 deadline.
Another problem was the fact that Valve didn't even make an appearance at E3 this year. This could either mean that their lips are completely sealed, or that they don't want to have to give people an accurate release date. In which case Left 4 Dead 3 could essentially come out in the year 2050 (Exaggeration, but still).
Lastly, is the fact stated above, which is Valve's silent treatment. At the end of the day, all of these "supposed" leaks and information could just be garbage and Valve has absolutely no plans for Left 4 Dead 3. I believe in the 2017 release, but dammit, Valve, just give us a little more to go on here, please!
I may sound a bit presumptuous, but I would be willing to gamble that Left 4 Dead 3 is in the works, and it will be making its way into 2017- whether it is going to be announced, or even released!
